Hi everyone,
I finally got my long awaited BFG 6800GT OC for Christmas (gift to myself lol). I installed the official drivers from Nvidia's website dated Nov 9 and they are okay but it seems hardly anyone around here is using them. What set is best as of today and why? I care about IQ and peformance just like everyone else however I'm switching from ATI so this is new territory for me. Thanks for your help ahead of time!

Where do all these drivers come from for example the new 71.24s?

Congrads on your new card!!!
I have the same card, is yours the reference or dual cooling fan design?
I'm currently running the 67.02 Extreme G driver.
IMO, it's one of the best drivers ever offered.
The developer is an active member here at NV News and will personally answer any questions or concerns you have with his drivers.
You will need to register with his website to get the driver(s).

I have the dual cooling fans. I wasn't really concerned with what version I got and as these cards are often hard to come by I picked one up when I had the chance.

Would you recommend the Extreme G Drivers over the new ones posted today? What kind of differences will there be? I tried the Omega drivers a few times with my ATI card so I am somewhat for tweaks.

the 71.24's are horrible many bugs. my drivers do have tweaks for better framerates and such and smoother gameplay. ofcourse each computer reacts differantly to the drivers you may get a large increase in performance you may get a small increase or in rare cases no increase at all.

Im currently using 66.97's (gainward modded drivers for gainward cards)
I was using the "67.02 Extreme G driver" which was an amazing driver. But I was confused to why I get the same benchmark results with either driver but with the 67.02 Extreme G driver I was getting 79.93 FPS on HL2 test on 1280x1024 everything on full where as with the same test im only getting 51.63FPS on the 66.97. So confusing!! The 67.02 extreme G is a nice set though... I do give him credit for a tight driver set. But at least my 66.97's are optimised for my card and WHQL certified... even though I still get these damn BSOD's with anything above 61.77!!!!

Hi,
I tried your drivers last night and so far I am greatly impressed. The IQ does seem better and I haven't benchmarked yet but gameplay seems smoother across the range of games I tried. I think these are it for now!

67.03 drivers.. period.

The 70.24 drivers have a yellow water bug in Half-life 2..so that's a no no.

I love the www.valancestudios.com 67.03's.

Some of us have video stutter with them
but for gaming they r the best.

If you want to be on the safe side with "official" drivers, go with the 67.03, which can be found on the Nzone site under "downloads" and "Beta drivers".

What would be better about the Nvidia 67.03s over the Xtreme G? Also which is better the Xtreme G 67.03s or 67.02s?

If you notice on Nvidia's website, the 67.03 driver was a tweak to the 67.02 driver, primarily geared towards people running the 6600GT AGP card with SIS mobo's/chipsets. If you're not using a SIS mobo/chipset, then go with the 67.02 Extreme G driver. This is what I'm using with my BFG 6800GT OC and P4 mobo. The Extreme G version is a modded version of the official Nvidia beta release, optimized for better performance and IQ.

Good luck, I don't think you'll be disappointed!!!

Thanks. If you read one of my earlier posts I already have yours installed and they seem great. I am just do more research but if those are ultimately the best I'll stay with them.

Stick with NVIDIA official. Leave beta drivers to beta testers...
Go and get 66.93, the latest official drivers and enjoy in your gaming...

I'm currently using 67.02... I get way too confused with all these different drivers always floating around here, there's just so many and hard to keep track of. So I just stick to whatever latest driver nVidia puts up on nvidia.com or nzone.com :)

I'm using the 67.02 because i was getting a BSOD in FlatOut . otherwise i'd stayed with the latest official drivers (66.93) .
