Is there a way to switch from 8X AGP to 4X without using the BIOS? With my old ATI card I did it through the control panel however using the Xtreme G drivers sliding the scroller to 4X seems to have no effect. I have a 6800 GT if it makes a difference.

Install RivaTuner. I have 2.0 15.3 NY Edition, but I know that other versions did it also. Undre Main tab, goto customize, choose the first icon (low level system settings) and goto the AGP tab. From there you can set the AGP transfer rate to any setting your mobo supports. Mine can do 4x and 8x.

Hope that helped. Good luck!

thanks. the reason I ask is because my mobo seems more stable on 4. will it slow my card down much? benches were the same w/my 9600.

I googled "AGP 4x vs 8x" and found someone that did a benchmark with his eVGA 6800GT. You can read it here. (http://www.short-media.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19596) From this guy's post, it looks like he had hardly any significant performance drop. Those numbers statisticly look within the margin of error. So you should be fine.

edit: Yeah, I took out the double negative. "Didn't have hardly any????" and I have a college education. :ass:
