i saw no topics for this, but 71.22 is amazing. I scored an extra 1277 points on 3dmark05 with my geforce 6800, amd 2500+, and 512 mb. 2095 with 66.93 to 3372 with 71.22! I so can't wait to try out hl2 with these.

screw you guys that said my cpu was a bottleneck. (snow=D)

also, there is one problem so far. water in half-life 2 looks like urine (i heard of this problem being only in the latest 71.24 drivers..will they fix it for me, since 71.22 does it? or is there a way to fix this?)

No way to fix it. the 71.22 and 71.24 both suffer from the yellow water in HL2.

There has been a discussion on the 71.22 but it was dropped due to the drivers being labeled crap.

:bleh: you people and your 3dmark scores, why do people get so excited about them?

hmm, ah well. i'll still be using them, they seem to be good minus the urine water. will there be a new forceware update that fixes this problem?

I know its frustrating, it's a totally pointless benchmark because GFX companies add tweaks to make them perform better, even if in-game performance is lower.

If you play games, avoid using 3D mark as driver comparisons.

Actually the 71.xx series drivers have a bug in 3dmark05 so the score is not valid anyways. There is a major "hitch" in fps between texture LOD transistions in this sceen from

3dmark is all about who can cheat the best. ATI or NVIDIA.

Oh and BTW 71.24 (WHQL for GeForce 6) is out. 71.22 beta should be a thing of the past.

Most important is hows your performance in actual games .. :bleh:
if your 3dmark score raised & other games are still getting the same or less performance then we didnt do anything .

sanius

yeah. the 71.20b give me the same fps in 3dmark05, but it's the same in hl2, sadly.

Man I'm still on the 65.73s.

Tried out newer drivers, didn't like any of them.

71.24 is WHQL for GeForce 6x00 series and released officially by Sparkle. Therefore I wouldn't consider them beta.

They are WHQL for 6800 GT. If not, then you used a hacked driver/modded inf. Simple as that.

i dont know if anyone else notices, but with my 5800u (nv30) and i'm assuming other nv3x boards, i dont notice much of a fps difference between all of the 6x.xx drivers and the 7x.xx. the only drivers that caused noticable differences, in a bad way, were the 61.xx, and xtremeg 7x.xx because both driver sets shut off my fan midgame.

it seems everyone that talks about all these changes with the drivers are all using the nv4x boards
