Seems like in most cases, one can change the AGP frequency seperate from the FSB right? Will this also effect the PCI bus - since its half of AGP? Lets say if I select, in the bios, 180mhz on the FSB and 70 mhz on the AGP, will this set my PCI to 35mhz?

CONFIRM please...

Uh, why? just run 66mhz AGP and 33 mhz PCI. no performce gain from O/Cing the agp port.

Shyte, man...it was a simple question for curiosity sake...I want to know how the nforce2 chipset handles a higher clocked AGP frequency...does it increase the PCI frequency with it...or keeps it locked up at 33mhz...
How hard is that to answer? geez...

i would think, but the pci can also be dependant on what the pci divider is on an nforce2. i'd say use sisoft sandra to verify.

Thats the thing, I have heard conflicting info about that...leaning more towards a fixed PCI frequency @ 33mhz...
Not that it matters....I was just curious...I thought I would get a quick answer but its taking forever...
Ennn...fur-get-it...

Thanks for your reply anyway...

download sisoft sandra, it will tell you what your pci and agp is running at. set it to 75, and see what the pci is running it. would take no more than 5 minutes on a high speed connection to download it and get your answer.

AFAIK (this is the case for the Asus nForce2 motherboard anyway), Sandra can't make heads or tails from the information. nVidia has given absolutely no detailed information about their new chips to SiSoftware and hence, except for the benchmarks, the program is pretty useless for nForce2 owners.

Try using 3DMark or PCMark to determine PCI/AGP frequencies. nVidia clearly "supports" MadOnion, as their logo is seen on the madonion site.

I don't have the board yet....waiting on the MSI, EPOX and Abit - i'll be making my decision then...

It can make a difference actually. If you have a high AGP speed lets say 70Mhz for example it is allowing and extra 4MHz of data to be throughputted to the AGP card. This allows the card to feed on this information and feed a more steady display of frames OR increase the speed of the scene.

The gains may be small in comparison to raising the FSB to huge heights but at the end of the day it all helps.

I own an A7N8X and I have benchmarked the card using a locked 66mhz bus and tried it on auto as well. I'm overclocked to 193FSB so that would make the AGP bus in the high 70s. There is no difference between the 2.

I think the PCI bus is locked no matter what.

Ya, the PCI bus is 33mhz no matter what your AGP bus is set at.
