View Full Version : controlling the CPU fan... how to?
I'm fixing up my parent's computer (it used to be my old one).
Although I just put a new vantec stealth fan on it, it's still quite noisy, and the processor (a 1600+) doesn't really need that many rpms.
Is there any piece of software out there with which I can control the fan's speed? Something similar to MSI's CoreCell...
Any ideas?
Thanks.

I've never had any successful running a controlled Vantec stealth Fan ( I previously ran 4 in my system total). I used a couple different software programs, along with a Vantec Nexus Fan controller, and neither made any noticable difference??....Are those fans capbale of being controlled in the first place??
I would think so.
I also bought a 92mm one for my CPU (A64 3000+ @ stock). However, I must create my own 70 to 92mm adapter, so I haven't installed it yet.
I did run some tests though, and using CoreCell I could control the fan's speed.
Oh yeah, it ran at about 1/2 the RPM's compared to the stock cooling. Real quiet too. Great buy. :D
Would you be so kind as to tell me what software you used so I can give it a try?
Cheers.

I'm sorry I have been looking and looking these past couple of days with those programs (since I used them in my previous system) and have had no luck finding them :( If I do come across them, I'll be more than happy to PM you with some names and links to download them from :D Good luck with it anyways!
