Isn't a GE @ Ultra+ faster than SLI 6600GTs?

why not go with higher end gfx cards?

not that what you have is bad... just with that cpu I would have assumed you would go higher end :)

should of grabbed a single 6800 gt pci express then grab another later if you cant afford it now. however since you ordered a fx55 amd 64 then i hardly can imagine why u bought two 6600 gt's.

Uhmm i went with the 2 x 6600 because i did not have an unlimtede budget :) Maybe i should have gotten 1 x 6800GT. Well the shop got it all in stock and i cant wait :)

It will be a while before I go to SLI. I really just bought my new Mobo, CPU and GFX Card not too long ago. But then again, it won't be too long when the 6 Series goes out of style (1 FPS!).

Good on ya', it'll blow you away.

asus a8n sli deluxe
tagan 480
2 gb ocz 3700 platinum el
2 74 raptor raid 0
2 xfx 6800 gt pci sli
fx 55

Ignore all these that say it's a waste 'cos it's a waste when they upgrade too - enjoy it.

Like the others said 6600's arn't going to run like your single Ultra.....you might actually have less performance out of the that SLI setup, in some cases...compaired to what you're running now.
I'd seriously re-think your SLI cards...

Isn't the goal of SLI to upgrade to a second card later... you should have bought a 6800GT now and a second one in 6 months... now in 6 months you'll be stuck with a 6800nu and two 6600GT and you'll want to buy 2x6800 GT/ultras... That's my idea, but I may be wrong...

Just called the hardware shop and changed the 2 x 6600GT to 1 x 6800GT, now you all better be right :)

Good

2x6600GT aren't faster than one 6800GT. At a later time you can buy another 6800GT. ;)

2 x6600 gt will murder one 6800 gt, however, you have made the right choice going for one 6800 gt for the time being - will be even faster when you run them dual :)

Id have to agree with everyone else here. Paring 2x6600GT's with an fx-55 isnt optimal. You'll be better off in the long run getting the single 6800GT now and then later on, adding another 6800GT/ By then, more games and stuff will actually be sli-capable.
If it wasnt for the budget, then 2 6800GT's now would be the answer.

I myself could have gone SLI had I wanted to as I just payed out $1400 for a 30" LCD monitor. However, already owning a 6800Ultra(and a 6800gt in 2nd pc), it didnt seem necessary.
I MAY go SLI in the future, but not till I need to overhaul these pc's I got and that wont be for awile.

only an educated(!) bit of prophecising, but 2x6600GTs would probably outperform a 6800GT at low resolutions...they'll still choke at high res/AA combinations though i reckon.

Yes i did it. I just orderd :

As I have a friend who has issue with his Asus SLI MB and his 2 Club3D 6600GT PCIe... They don't want to run in SLI...

You did the smart thing by dumping the 6600's and getting the single 6800gt for now.

Peter... I have a guy here with his PC now and I can confirm they don't work! They work alone but not together. And I think it is because of the BIOS on his Club3D cards. As Gigabyte BIOS is different on some levels where the SLI coding might be.

And before you say again that Club3D confirms and whatever, I know enough on NVIDIA BIOS to know what is what in the BIOS.
