Wow, looks good but I hope they ease up on the bloom effect. It looks way too smudgy\blurry. Normal people's vision isnt like that at all.

Everything else looks really nice though... I can almost taste the goodies on the plate in that one picture :drooling:

Im the opposite...these screens dont really appeal to me....the game itself does, but I just dont see the WOW factor of these shots...the bump mapped walls look nice, but everything else looks like dx8 with bloom to me.

Hand over the crack pipe. Are you even looking at those screenshots, especially the forest area ones?

Yea, I agree, the forest shots do look nice, but the buildings and what not...I dunno....just doesnt do anything for me. Looks like a UT2K4 mod to me. Aside from the forest pics that is...those look freakin life like.

Keep talkin trash Clay...we'll see who's talkin trash when the Colts lose to the Broncos :p :D

Aside from the forest pics that is...those look freakin life like.I can see where you're coming from on some of the indoor shots. This kind of thing is always very subjective so whatever floats your boat. :) Keep talkin trash Clay...we'll see who's talkin trash when the Colts lose to the Broncos :p :DOooooh....ehhehehe  You really think that the Broncos can pull it out? They are somewhat improved on defense but they're actually at the same levels statistically as they were last year. The Colts, arguably, are much improved offensively and they are better on defense with Freeny and Mathis, not to mention Doss is coming back to full strength and Sanders was very impressive before he dinged his knee a few weeks ago..he should be good to go though as well on Sunday.

Here's a good article that I bet you'll enjoy reading :D:

I love the Colts-but I'm just afraid of their defense, it shows high points and low points, this season is a bit unpredicatable with their defense. Still tho...I think we can agree, it really doesnt matter who wins....we all know the Steelers are taking it all.... :thumbdwn: (and i hate saying that, but i'll admit it) i'll check out that link =)

It has been said that this time the engine is more scalable than Morrowind. BTW, It seems that some developers are still using 9800Pro in their rigs, so performance shouldn't be a problem for any NV40 card.

The Broncos are going to get a sheer and utter beatdown from the Colts. :D

D3 was developed on a 9700/9800 for a while and it still brought today's graphics cards to their knees. I expect to upgrade my card for this game and UR3.

Well i expect Oblivion to come after the launch of the NV50/R520 .. so no worries . we'll upgrade either ways :D

Heh... D3 didnt bring mine to its knees. I played fine at 1600x1200 High Quality (8x AF). It slowed down in some places, but hardly brought my system to its knees... and my system isnt that fast :p

How much AA were you using? I'm talking max settings here, that includes AA/AF. Secondly D3 was programmed by God AND even then it had to skimp on alot of things [not alot of enemies on screen at same times, textures, no outdoors/water, etc]. A game running on the D3 engine that actually managed to use it to some potential would rape your system to the ground.

P.S. I beat D3 at 1600x1200 2xAA 8xAF HQ, anything higher and I would get unpleasant dips here and there [unless I overclocked and tweaked]. Still couldn't play it at max settings.

You never said anything about max AA\AF (or about any graphics settings actually :p)...

Its pretty obvious that we wont be playing Oblivion at 1600x1200 4xAA 16xAF with a 6800 Ultra. Someone said the game was being developed on a 9800, so its safe to say any card faster than that will play it just fine.

When I think of bringing something to its knees, I usually think low settings with barely playable framerates. If Doom 3 didnt run as fast as you wanted, then your extreme graphics settings were what was bringing your system to its knees... not the game.

Now I have to hurry and beat Morrowind before Oblivion comes out. Unfortunately, that seems quite unlikely. So far I've only finished Tribunal :(

It's seems unlikely we'll see Oblivion by the end of 2005. I hope to see at least a big preview at E3

Even then! The environment is so vast and it's easy to get lost in the number of quests you're on. I'm barely into the main quest and I haven't touched Bloodmoon yet.

Oh come on, AA/AF is infered. Who the hell buys a $400 card and doesn't use AA/AF? This is a hardware enthusiast forum after all, not Martha Stewart's daycare center.

If Doom 3 didnt run as fast as you wanted, then your extreme graphics settings were what was bringing your system to its knees... not the game.

So let's see here, you're saying:

It isn't the game that killed your system, it's the game's extreme graphic settings that did.

Your logic reminds of a dog chasing it's tail. :p

My roommate Dave just doesn't understand and what gets me the most is that he's a hardcore gamer/nerd, too.

I tell him all the time that I'm superficial: if a game isn't pretty enough, I just won't play it, regardless of the story (with SOME exceptions that is). I just feel like my $411 investment is being wasted if every gaming moment isn't straining it to the maximum potential (or as close as I can get it) at all times. He's still got a GF4 Ti4200 and games at 800x600 for everything. He says I should just lower the res to that and turn off all AA/AF to get the best performance.

I don't know about anyone else, but I didn't spend my $411 to play at 800x600 w/out AA or AF.

My point was that I can force pretty much any game to "bring my video card to its knees" by enabling higher and higher graphics options. And believe it or not, MANY people buy top of the line hardware and run at 1024x768 with no AA\AF. That way they never have to worry about slow downs until a game actually comes around that DOES bring their system to its knees (ie, forcing them to play at crap resolutions and to lower details).

And you didnt even quote me correctly. If you're going to make a smart ass comment, at least keep what i said in context

Anyway, back on topic. Has anyone seen this??
