View Full Version : EA Sports Games and 40.72 drivers

Anyone noticing on Nascar Thunder 2003 and F1 2002, that with the 40.72 drivers, you cannot enable anti-aliasing on your display properties AND in the game. If I enable anti-aliasing using 3D Set-Up in F1 2002 or editing the config.ini file in Thunder, the games crash and disable DirectDraw, Direct3dD and AGP texture acceleration in "dxdiag". I am running Windows 98SE and a ti-4600 PNY Video Card and have tested different drivers extensively. All series of drivers previous to the 40.xx drivers will run these games with anti-aliasing enabled in the game and on your video graphics. The speed and sharpness is unmatchable in the 40.72's though. Does anyone know a fix that I may be missing that will give me the best of both worlds?

Try using the 41.03 drivers download then here (http://www.warp2search.net/article.php?sid=7908&mode=thread&order=0)

Smokey, I would love to try the 41.03, but they are'nt for Windows 98, unless you know of a link.

Have you tried any of the previous 4x.xx series drivers that are 98 compatible? They should offer similar performance and may fix your problems.

If not, you may have to drop back to the 30.82's and wait for the next official release. Those are the best fallback detonator drivers I've found to date.

saturnotaku, Yes I have tested thoroughly, believe me. I agree the 30.82's are the best fallback drivers. I was hoping for a fix, because with the 30.82's, the FPS and graphics sharpness are less, especially on other games like RalliSport Challenge. Now "that game" runs beautifully with the 40.72's, but runs horribly with the 30.82's. I was hoping to get the 40.72's smoothed at on all my Racing Sims.

Hrmm...I dunno what to tell you. I wish NVIDIA would come out with 41.03 drivers for 9x/ME. They're some of the best drivers I've ever used - all my games are smooth with excellent image quality.

This might be a longshot, but maybe try downloading the 2.00 nForce drivers and extracting the video drivers out of the package. Other than that I have no idea.

Just to let you all know, the Beta driver 41.09 has solved the problem. With this NVIDIA driver I can run anti-aliasing enabled in the Display Properties and within 3D Setup in the game. The graphics are AWESOME! No jaggys and great FPS. :) :)
