Hi i was one of those idiots who bought the asus k8v socket 754 boards that dont have an agp lock. Even incresing the fsb 5 mhz causes my computer to crash. Is there anything I can do as these processors are multiplier locked? :(

Yeah, buy a new motherboard. Otherwise you're SOL.

Well I was one of those idiots as well, but look at my OC! Woot!

Sorry, that wasnt helpful, except to say that its obviosuly not impossible to OC w/o PCI/AGP lock in every instance. As for you, yeah, not much you can do if you've tried it and it doesnt work.

what he said...

with your situation, it would be the best bet unless you have no problems burning out more than just your mobo..

I had my K8V up to 241htt stable as a rock as long as I did not OC my 9800.Not sure how well a 6800GT will fare at such high agp speed.

Did you just increase the fsb? what about the latency timer. mines at 96

It's been a while but I had the latency at 64, htt at 3, mem in DDR166 mode, and Vagp at 1.7v. But I'm sure the 6800 will put a much larger load on the agp so you might not be as lucky.
