So far its happen to me twice now both with printers, 1 was a USB the other parallel

Basically, after the printer installs properly i get a error message saying "Problem installing your hardware , Could not find the file specified" and i get not options but to close the box. As soon as i click close the "new hardware found" box appears in the taskbart tray and the same error box appears again. The only way to stop is from appearing is to literally unplug the printer connection to the PC (turning it off does not work)

Meanwhile, the printer is istalled and works fine... Its just freaking annoying to always have to unplug the usb cable when your not using the printer...

Anyone know how to get windows to STFU and realize its already installed?

I know i started seeing this after SP2 came out.

What services could affect driver updating/installing?

Ah-HA!

Dont you love it when you finally find the answer to those stupid computer problems thats been bugging you for a long time? (for me over a year)

Well, In the Registry LocalMachine>Software>Microsoft>Windows>CurrentVersion You'll find the Run folder where program put key to start up with windows.

Right under that you'll Find "RunOnce" If this folder is not there (deleted) any new hardware installation will go wrong. (as stated in my previous posts).

Just passing on Info...
