After a confrontation with a group called the Pink Angels, described by protesters as "a militant mob of homosexuals," the Christians were arrested and spent a night in jail.
Eight charges were filed: criminal conspiracy, possession of instruments of crime, reckless endangerment of another person, ethnic intimidation, riot, failure to disperse, disorderly conduct and obstructing highways.
None of the Pink Angels was cited or arrested.
After a preliminary hearing in December, Judge William Austin Meehan ordered four of the Christians to stand trial on three felony and five misdemeanor charges. If convicted, they could get a maximum of 47 years in prison. One female teenage protester faces charges in the juvenile justice system.
Looks like we can't even protest against gays without going to jail. Is this where we are headed?

Now that is just ****ed up. I'd say some heads are going to roll at the Philly PD for not arresting any of the pinks.

You are blatantly disregarding the fact that Christians have an interest to prevent homosexuals from changing marriage laws and being that this is a free country, they should be able to say so. I like your double-standard version of equality, it's neat.
That said, it sounds to me like the Christians in the article got way out of hand and probably deserve their jail sentences. Protesting is one thing, rioting is another.

Seeing that they live a lifestyle by choice, and that said lifestyle disagrees with mines, I say that it is my constitutional right to protest.
Telling a person he/she should repent from a sinful life should not be considered a hate crime. This is headed down a slippery slope of no return. Next thing you know is that pastors of churches will be considered criminals for preaching against homosexuality.

You are wrong. We do NOT support tolerance. We support family values, and truth. Homosexuality (and the lifestyle connected to it) is a direct opposite of both.

Christians are trying to help homosexuals NOT be homosexual. For one, it *IS* wrong, and their agenda is to make it legal to butt**** someone and call it marriage.
It will cause problems in the family unit, cause societal problems, and health issues on a much larger scale. If Christians can't protest homosexuals, why are they allowed to picket governor's houses and not get arrested?
What you've just said is the stupidest thing I've read all day. If I think something is wrong, I should have every right to protest it regardless of whether it actually IS right or wrong, I have the right to express that (of course within decency).
Take that away, and you need to also take away the homosexuals' equivalent rights of protest. First off, his wording I admit is not choice but knowing DD as I do, he is concerned that we cannot protest against a political group just because they are a "favored" minority group. This is wrong. They are political and there for to hide behind minority status is just dishonest.
I haven't read the story yet, still it seems to me if people get out of line they should face the concequences. I am down loading the video right now so I will make my judgement then. How ever from my own experience, if you are going to protests there will always be trouble. So for me I just stay away from that, besides it is the most fanatical people who go to those things or at least the most emotionaly excited people at that moment that are there. Besides, every one here knows I hate protests.

First off I am not pissed. Secondly you keep wanting to twist this and that IS frustrating me. This is not about homosexuality. It is about the right to protest and that is it. The issue just happens to be homosexuality and Christianity. So please don't introduce rediculous argument and infer things that are not in the conversation.

So protesting something you don't like, without use of violence, is enough to land someone in jail? Everything I've read and seen so far makes the Christian protesters out to be the real victims, and those Pinko queers seem like they at least planned to start trouble when someone disagreed. This is the gist of what I am trying to say. I am offended that when speak out against things that God calls a sin, I am considered a hate-monger/homophobe/intolerant, or whatever. Just like when people speak out against me or anyone that don't accept this lifestyle, we should be able to do the same without believing we can be put in jail as a result.

the way I am... I am pretty easy-goin in real life... I just dislike people coming to me and talking to me about their beliefs and why my beliefs are wrong and things like that...
its a reason why I dislike entertaining jehovah's witnesses when they come knocking...
@ the same time though I fully understand it is their right to do this as long as they are non-violent and not-overbearing...
I don't believe screaming out that people are sinners and evil and what not is a very productive way to get the message across but again, its their right to do so...

I just watched that video again, and I'm MADDER THAN HELL! If I were there, I don't think I could restrain myself after watching peaceful protesters being harrased, ridiculed, and arrested. I'd more than likely do something stupid, like lay into the first Pinko commie I could, and snatch 'em bald headed. I agree with steeda, as long as you're on their side, you can do no wrong. What if the protesters had no signs, and said nothing? Would the Pinko commies still blow their wussie whistles and hold their signs high? Seems like people forget the horrors of gay-bashing to easily, and this is the kinda thing that puts innocent people in jeopardy, not just at that gathering, but all across the country. Be expecting a rise in anti-gay movements and violence if this keeps up.

What I'm saying is that, while it is a persons Constitutional right to a peacful protests, what is not right is a protest against someone who engages in a lifestyle (again, research has not been able to prove if homosexuality is a genetic predisposition or a "choice") that is neither a danger or a threat to anyone else.
And yes, I do feel that protesting homosexuality is akin to protesting the color of someones skin.
Don't like my position? Grab a sign a head for the sidewalk outside of my home. It's your right. But you might just be wrong.
