Hi,

I got a Geforce FX 5500 for Christmas, and as soon as I installed it I started to have problems. First, A 3D modeling/animation program I use was having display errors--the buttons weren't displaying correctly. Second, after installing Fifa 2004 (that I also just got for Christmas), I had major problems with the screen flickering and displaying horizontal black bars across it.

After installing the newest Nvidia drivers, The problem with the 3D program was fixed, but the problem with the game remained. . .and since then I've found two others that have similar or identical problems. The funny thing is, most of my games (like CoD and MoHAA) work fine, without any problems at all.

Okay, things I've tried:

Updating Nvidia drivers (already said that).

Disabling my onboard sound in the BIOS.

Fiddling with every single setting in my display options.

Googling for someone having similar problems.

One thing I thought of was going back to DirectX 8.1 (I have 9.0c right now), because Fifa and the other games were made to support 8.1 or earlier. . .but I haven't found a way to roll back DirectX without reinstalling Windows completely.

My system specs are:

AMD Duron 900 mHZ
ECS K7S5A Motherboard
1 Gig SDRAM
Windows 98 SE
Geforce FX 5500

Anyone know of anything like this happening before, or how to fix it?

Thanks
