... version 5.1 just released.

yah! i've been feeling like doing a format/clean install of XP for awhile now, but have put it off until the release of some new drivers. :)

Thanks! I like to wait until the Omega's are here before installing the new drivers. I don't particularly care for the CCC myself.

For those of you who once used the CCC in the beginning, quickly uninstalled it and never looked back... you might wanna try it again. :)

I did the same as many of you did and removed it a.s.a.p. when it came out, but the newer versions seems to be a lot faster and less resource demanding. Especially turning off the 3D preview seems to make things better. ATi is certainly improving their CCC every time. CCC is here to stay for me now.

So far I haven't ever tried CCC and I still don't really need it. :p

Until they can get the startup time to under 5 seconds I don't think I'll bother with the CCC. It's kind of ridiculous that it takes the CCC 15 seconds to load and only takes MS Word 3.0 seconds. Of course, the CCC loads faster after the first time but in my use I usually only accessed it once per session. So, I was always hit with the 15 second startup time which is unacceptable for something that is supposed to be a quick-change type of app. Anyway, I tried it again to see if it improved and it hasn't in that regard. I hope this isn't a byproduct of using .NET. If it is, maybe the long startup time is something we'll have to get use to.

So starting up takes time too ?? hmm I didnt know that ... another reason to my no CCC list :thumbdwn:

Just installed the 5.1. They do no seem to bring anything new or exciting to the table compared to the 4.12 :(

It's their new control panel. It adds profiles and other stuff. For me anyway, it looks good but doesn't work very well (for example, I've had trouble getting the profiles to work correctly). Also, like I've said ad nauseam, it's just way too slow to load for me but if you access it a lot, that won't be much of a problem. It's much faster after that initial load. Thankfully, they still provide the old control panel so if you don't like the CCC, you can use the old style CP but you lose some features. :(

What features are talking about?

Profiles, for example, and you also can't disable some of the optimizations with the regular CP. I'd try the CCC first and see if you like it just keeping in mind that if it bugs you, you can always use the regular control panel. The ATI side has some cool utilities that are small, fast and efficient so if you end up going back to the regular ATI control panel, check out ATI Tray tools or Radlinker. ATI should have just bundled one of those with the drivers. :)

When I was using ATI, Radlinker =

I love the seamless integration into the regular control panel. Plus it has more tweaking options than anything else I tried.
