Building new rig, how much of an upgrade will this be?

Currently: Athlon 2400/KT333/Ti4

New rig: Fairly sure nforce4/4Ultra then either a 3200/3500 and an x800Xl or 6800 standard series card.


With even a more basic setup, ie 3200 and maybe even a 6600GT will I see a big difference in gaming?

I think your current setup is still ok. If i were you i'd upgrade my video card first then decide if a cpu/mobo is needed.

if you got the $$$, upgrade. you will see a definite performance increase...cpu/mobo and vid card wise....

The problem is my current Mobo only supports 4x AGP cards, I tried to get a 9600XT to work and the voltages are wrong, it wont post right and I get random crashes. I even tried a re-install of windows in case there were driver conflicts but it was a nogo, Faqs fer my board say this is a common prob. I have the cash to do a full upgrade so I figure I am better off going that way.

Sounds good, I am trying to decide if I should go with just the nforce4 or wait for more ultras to be availible, I dont need SLI, but the possibility of NCQ and SATA2 are tempting me. Def going for at least a 6800nu or X800XL .

Also before buying a new video card make up your mind if you want a agp system or a PCIe card ,if you could do it all at one time then go with a PCIe motherboard,Most of the A64 3200+ overclocks great with some good memory.But the X800XL is a real good choice.

yeah i got rid of my 6600gt and bought my msi of ebay. the 6800 nu is much better for me
