Hmmm...I wonder why you these aren't posted at the nvidia site under their driver chooser...thingy. Here is the change log....

This following are changes made and issues resolved since driver version 67.03:

* SLI cards: Half Life 2 performance drops on canals demo with SLI
enabled
* GeForce 6800 Ultra, SLI: No performance difference with the game
Lock On Modern Air Combat when SLI mode is enabled.
* GeForce 6800: Incorrect fog for underwater objects in Half Life 2.
* SLI cards: Shadows flicker with Source engine games like Half-Life 2
and Counterr-Strike when SLI mode is enabled.
* Windows XP Media Center Edition, GeForce 6600: Graphical
distortion appears intermittently when cycling through the Media
Center menus.
* Windows XP Media Center Edition, GeForce 6600: From HDTV
component-out, changing the resolution from 1080i or 720p to 480p
results in 480i being set instead.
* GeForce 6600 GT: NVIDIA Color Correction does not work when
playing video using VMR.
* GeForce 6800 LE, PCI-Express: With an HDTV as the secondary
display in Clone mode, the TV loses sync when changing the
resolution to 1080i with Keep Native HDTV resolution selected.

Q

Yes dey is beta drivers, but y dis thread say "official" den? Das confusing, eviled1. =D

Yes, they are beta drivers. What is odd is that in this thread, (and over at Guru 3d), it says that they're "official" Since when do we call beta drivers official? Well, I trust Nzone over Guru 3d.

New drivers....without the pee water. Nice.

Yeah. It's a little confusing now that Nvidia is releasing official beta drivers.

Oh well I'd call any driver coming directly from nVidia "Official".

Installs a secondary monitor here. Anyway I can get rid of this?

I don't know, eviled1. I noticed that as well. If you read the literature that was in the same FTP folder as these, you'll see that Nvidia is realllly pushing Nview. Under nview in the Driver Options, it shows a TV as a display, as well, even though I don't have a TV hooked up. So, I'm thinking that the drivers are forcing TV out even if you don't have a TV hooked up. Just a thought...

I don't usually benchmark, but these are doing alright for me in HL2 and UT2k4. No problems yet.

I noticed that too. There is a TV listed in my Nview properties, but I only have my LCD connected. Strange. Ah well, it's set to single display so it doesn't seem to affect my display settings much.

Edit: After a second look, I think it may have that as default. If you look at the pictures of the displays on the bottom of nview, it still shows only 1 display. Not 2 like it usually does when you have 2 displays connected.

It looks like the negative LOD clamp is missing in these...

Seems even without the clamp option, the shimmering in UT2k4 is greatly reduced from previous drives which didn't have the clamp.

67.66

+- played 4 stages in cmr05; japan stage2 which usually causes a lot of 'chugging' only chugged once out of 2 runs through it, and seemed smoother. all others were without issue. [1280x1024 2xAA 4xAF MAXED]

++ flat out seems to run just as smooth as before, no crashes/problems with these drivers (same as 67.03's). [1280x1024 2xAA 8xAF MAXED]

++ bf1942:desertcombat:final ran great, no problems, nice and smooth even on a server with 49 other people. [1280x1024 2xAA 8xAF MAXED]

-- shimmering is back ;) same exact shimmering as in 67.03 (am I the only one who noticed it in 67.03?), though not nearly as bad as drivers prior to 67.02. Seems to me that 67.02 is the only driver which really eliminated it. No more negative lod clamp, but there is some other 'clamp' setting which is defaulted to 'yes' in the performance settings.

## 3dmark05 score of 3486, down from 3512 with 66.81's.

They didn't work for me. Back to 71.24. I couldn't force refresh rates, only 60Hz. And the driver thought I had a monitor and a tv connected...Strange bug!

How can you possibly know that?

Q
01-18-05, 06:16 PM
He knows Mr. Nvidia, thats how he knows.

Anyways, I did notice a bit of shimmer...or something else in the 67.03s. I don't know, it was just something wierd with IQ, and I noticed it as well. However, there should be very, very little difference between the 67.03 and 67.02 sets. The only difference was a fix for ....SIS? chipsets. I'm not sure exactly, but I know it was a chipset fix.

On topic, I think the IQ looks pretty sharp overall, but nothing super. HL2 looks very sharp. Performance on level with other 67.xx sets.

I tested these with a few games, just observations no benchmarks,

UT2004 ran fine and image quailty was very nice.

Flatout ran fine and image quality was also very nice.

Farcry ran poorly, the image quality actually seemed very sharp, and the game ran very smooth, problem was it cause a strange translucent texture being over layed on the bottum 1/8th of the screen. It was the same image that occupied the buttom 1/8 of the screen, just a few inches off centre and translucent.

I'm going back to 67.03 which were very good with everything I played.

just fired up farcry (just got onto the carrier haha :P) and it ran just fine through all the water and jungle leading up to it. no hesitations or slowdowns whatsoever, though I think i have the settings down a little bit (1024x768 I know for sure, will check the rest in a bit). More importantly, no translucent texture which you mention. Played through a little bit, runs tits ;)

bumped up to 1280x1024 w/ settings at med/high generally (half & half) and got no slowdowns or hesitations at all.

I also played a good amount of bf1942:dc:final just now and no problems on the new DC maps, runs really nice :D So far, other than the little bits of shimmering (which I havent attempted to fix w/ settings yet) these are real nice.
