OK what's wrong in here, I use PowerDVD 6 and enabled Hardware acc. and when I play A DVD it feels so chubby and not smooth.
If I disabled the hardware Acc. then the DVD becomes smoothly played.
And one more thing, using Nvidia decoder solve this problem.
Try downloading Windows XP Video Decoder Checkup Utility (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=de1491ac-0ab6-4990-943d-627e6ade9fcb&displaylang=en) and setting your preferred DVD decoder.

What will this utility help me in ?
Set the nVidia decoder as preferred decoder for WMP.

Pardon me, but I said I have a problem with PowerDVD, I only install one program at a time, If I am to use powerDVD then Nvidias decoder is uninstalled and the way around.
Oh I see.
Does your CPU usage change much when you switch off hardware acceleration? I have Power DVD 6 too, and I didn't really notice much difference with it on or off.

I'll see in a moment.
Really the only thing I notice is a change in brightness and contrast when I switch between hardware acceleration on/off. CPU usage doesn't change much (if any).

oK I installed PowerDVD 6
CPU idle process ranges from 75~99 even if hardware acc. is enabled
When Using WMP with NV Decoder
CPU idle Process range from 90~99
My Cpu usage is same as yours on PowerDVD 6. But the DVD plays fine. What do you mean when you say the dvd playback is not smooth? Do you get pauses and glitches or somethin? Remember DVD playback will not go over 30 FPS. In fact most of the time its around 25.

I know, what I meant by not smooth is that I can see little pauses more like uncontinues Cam. Movement.
What programs or services do you have running in the background? Check the task manager for anything suspicious.

Every thing seems normal, again this problem happens when H?W acc. is enabled with PowerDVD6 only.
When I play DVDs with NV dec. every thing is normal.
