It's finally here and a nice price too! In fact it's the same price as an FX5900XT AGP

Now the question... I know a 6600GT outperforms the R9800Pro... but how does a 6600 (non-GT) AGP compare? Or better still how does it compare to an FX5900XT. Remember we're talk about a significantly less clockspeed of 300core/500mem and only 128bit memory bus.

Is the 6600 non-GT AGP worth it for us FX owners? If so I may be interested as the price continues to drop.

i'd say u better stick wid ur 59XT. if u r looking for an upgrade, wait till u can get 66GT or 68GT.

Bah... another low end 256Mb card. I hate those. I give it a week before someone tells me they have a "256meg Nvidia" and that it only cost them $180 and that I got ripped off for spending $317 for the same thing. It happens all the time :(

I'm still waiting for the first 512mb 6600's. Or a 512mb 6200. *shiver*

Can't wait for the threads in gaming forums: I have a 512mb card but the game runs like crap?

6600 will outperform the 5900XT. Shader power from NV43 is far greater than NV35. For $182 it's not worth it though, you better get a 6600GT for $199.

OMFG! I just looked at the benches in HL2 @ 1024x768 Pure speed...

FX5900XT AGP (dx8.1) = 65.5fps
6600GT AGP = 64.0fps
6600 PCIE = 39.3fps

WTF?!?!

5900XT is running in DX8.1 mode, if you noticed. And HL2 isn't worth saying much about, being a fanATIc prefering engine.

isnt it common sense that the 59XT will outperform 66nu in any and almost every app.
http://www.inno3d.com/support/cards_comparison.html

damn the page on that link doesnt have 59XT anymore.
but seeing the fact that 59XT does have higher mem bandwidth, and is 256-bit, and is also in the HI-end segment, and has higher Fillrate, compared to the nu, it has to outperform 66nu.

MOH:PA, Doom3, BF:V... Let's see how the two stack up against each other in those games. I believe that when overclocked the 6600NU will come out squarely on top, making it a good upgrade for GF4/5600/5700 users who didn't get quite as much tax mone y back as planned this year.

well this is a trick of nvidia, for ppl to get forced to pik up the GT's, 66GT is way better than 66nu, and 68GT, is way better than 68nu.

jus like the r4xx, 98pro was way better than 98np, and 96pro, was way better than 96np.

unlike the fx series, the 56ultra n 56nu had no major diff, similarly with 58u & nu, and 59u and nu.

well if the 6600NU goes down to $150 or less, only then would it be a good deal. But when the 6600GT AGP hit $199 at Newegg I simply couldn't say no anymore, and neither should anyone else ;)

Hey Cap'n, Where did you find your OC 6800 GT for $317? Was that with rebates or from a great eBay find? Please tell. :D

I've got a friend that'll take my NU off my hands for $250 cause it'll unclock and he doesn't want to take the chance of buying one that doesn't. If I can find a 6800GT for less then $340, I may sell.

Try hitting 500/900 on a 5600NU :p
