Just purchased an Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard and an Athlon64 3500+, now to populate it with 2 6600GTs, or one 6800GT, Ive read most of the benches, and Ive seen favors for both configurations at reasonable resolutions.. Seems that an FX or equivalant CPU is needed to properly load balance 2 6800s, and the 6600s suffer from lack of memory/bandwidth.. Really tough call 4 me. Any input from u folks would be appreciated.. thanks....

Its not a tough call at all . get the 6800GT ! its fairly better than 2x6600GTs esp with that high-end CPU .
& later when you have more cash , get the other 6800GT to play in SLI mode & BANG! you have a powerfull system .

6800 GT. IIRC benches show a single 6800GT pwning the 6600GT SLI in high res with AA and AF enabled!

My vote goes for the 6800gt also.

6800GT. That way you're still SLI capable and can upgrade anytime you feel like it.

if u can afford two 66GT's at the moment, then get a single 68GT. it wins over 66GT SLi. Get the other 68GT later, wen u have cash for it.or wen it gets cheeper.

I would say 6800GT period if you can afford it now. When 6800Gts become cheaper in a few months later like maybe a new gen launch, or 6800 GTs have flooded the market then you can get a same brand GT and rig them for a 6800 GT SLI setup.

I'm amazed how the demand for the 6800GT far exceeds the supply!
I was lucky to find my GT on the shelf (the only one) at Best Buy in November.
At the time, I searched a number of websites for a GT, 95% of them were sold out.
And those that had one, they were price gouging.

My opinion........6800GT

You can always upgrade later.
