Just upgraded my 5900xt to a new 6800gt but I'm having the following problem- when I try to run 3dmark03 and 05 they both freeze after about 20 seconds and then reboot the system, my system specs are-
xp pro
xp3200+
1024mb kingston ram
quality jeantech 500watt power supply
20gig maxtor hdd
MSI k7n2deltal motherboard (nforce ultra 400)

This is my second 6800 card the first being a 6800le which simply crashed constantlywhile playing most games.I have nothing overclocked on my system and I have tried all the following-

Updated all drivers including system motherboard chipset
changed agp aperature size
installed new and then old nvidia drivers
reduced bios memory settings
switched off agp fast writes
updated mobo bios
Power to card supplied by spare lead not y splitter cable

Any help much appreciated as I am about to return this card.

it might not be your vid card. check the MSI Forums (http://forum.msi.com.tw/index.php?sid=). you will find that kingston memory is hit or miss with the k7n2 boards. they recommend Corsair or Mushkin.

try Memtest86 (http://www.memtest86.com/) and if you dont get any errors, then i would start accusin your vid card.

hope that helps some ;)

Tried memtest and no errors found plus my 5900xt runs flawlessly.

OK then make sure that your Sound card and Graphics card are not sharing the same IRQ.

He pretty much tried everything I would.... very odd problem. Does the restart BSOD tell you whats casuing it?? That helped me when I had problems and tracked it to a driver and have been running fine sense.

tried checking irq's nothing shared with vid card. no bsod just freezes and sometimes reboots system with no error message.

Mine does that now once every other day.... but im pretty sure its cause of my CPU and FSB OC. Is your CPU OC'ed?

What's the +12v rating on your power supply? If it's 18A or less, that probably is the source of your problem.

Mine is 18A and I never had any problems untill drivers above 61.77. Although... I dont exactly have his issue as I can play games and run benchmarks untill I enable hardware EAX sound... then all hell breaks loose because it conflicts with new video drivers for some gayed up reason.

I have nothing overclocked and my psu is a jeantech 500w with 18amp 12v rail.
