View Full Version : problem with running Direct-X games with Dualview
Hi all,
I just signed here. I have a situation with my QuadroFX 2000. When running in Dualview (1280x960 and 1280x720) I cannot run any Direct-X games, the games that do run, only would in OpenGl mode. I have tried 66.93 and 67.66 and even 71.20 drivers and they all result in the same problem. IS this a limitation of the QuadroFX 2000?
I need to run Direct-X games to evaluate what I am doing within a 3d application as well as how it looks in the game. Has anybody else run into this situation? Thanks!

Might it have something to do with setting Hardware Acceleration to Single-display/Multi-display(compatibility/performance) mode?
How do you check for that? Is that in the registry? DXDIAG does not show an option for dualview or much of anything else.

You need to enable "Show advanced settings" on that tab to see that option.
HTH
Strange I don't have that in my options. I am using 67.22 drivers and I also do not recall seeing those options for 71.20 and Quadro specific drivers.

NVTweak (http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=40820) will probably enable that page for you. Otherwise have a look at Coolbits (http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=29541) for the appropriate Registry Tweak.
Not sure if this is the problem with your card or if the same Tweaks apply to the Quadro drivers.
Thanks for that. I got 'multi-display hardware acceleration' in OpenGl only. I does make sense though since this is a workstation card. I had the impression however that the Direct-X in the NV30 has been improved. I should try older drivers and see if this changes anything. I do need the newer HDTV timings because my 2nd display is an HDTV. I am thinking maybe it is Dualview that's the problem because it has to run two displays on different resolutions and refresh rate? I don't know enough about the way GDI and Direct-X works in windows to know for sure if this is the case.
Weird though that this card has a better performance in Direct-X mode than in OpenGL with Il-2/FB/AEP/PF (Pacific Fighters). There is a marked hesitancy in OpenGl mode even if this game is using a Direct-X 8.1 wrapper and was optimized for OpenGl. OpenGL of course screams in 3d applications and it could handle textured and shaded 800,000->4 million polygon load.
