The RIAA conquistadors become more and more insane as they are allowed to breath my air.

There is a code of conduct at the academy that you agree to when you join.
The RIAA would like to lock up everyone who owns a computer. But on the other hand, if you are in military you should expect your activity to be monitored for illegal activity.

CD sales fell more than 5 percent in 2001 and dipped another 1 percent in the first half of this year, according to the RIAA
*sniff sniff* hmmm whats that aroma in the air....it often appears when RIAA start babbling on
Perhaps the reason for this slump, and by the way I believe album sales have actually rose now. But perhaps the reason may be because the record companies are churning out more horse sh*t than the grand national.

Government property fella's.
There is a disclamer that flashes on the screen for about 20 seconds from the DoD (that is the Department of Defense) saying un-authorize material is not allowed on the system and network by order of yadayada....
If these cadets decided to disobey a DIRECT ORDER, to hell with um, they don't need to be in the military.

I don't understand. Why is the RIAA stupid here? They want to stop piracy, so that means they have to take the fight to the places it happens. The Government has a policy about its computer networks, the RIAA knows it, the Navy doesn't want to keep cadets who will disobey a direct order, where is the problem?
Software piracy, music piracy, it's all bad mojo. Personally, I could care less if the RIAA wants to go knock down someone's door because they are stealing music. I buy my CD's fair and square, and the mp3's on my hard drive are from those disks.
That's the thing. You will probably never here how many of those confiscated PC's had legitimate use of mp3's on them. If you own CD's, it is not (or should not be) illegal to download the songs on those CD's. If it's already been ripped at a bitrate that is accpetable you, why spend the time ripping it yourself when you can just download it?
In cases such as this, you never hear about the mistakes that are made.

EDIT: What I left out is in bold type.

Thats sad. These guys had promising careers in front of them, now RIAA has to screw it up, when these are the guys that would be fighting for the freedom that allows the RIAA to operate. I still don't think these mp3s cause music sales to drop at all, in fact, they help them out. If you like the song, you usually go out and buy the CD.:( Either way, greed drives the RIAA and artists, I'll never defend the RIAA anywhere.

Geez..you're the last person I'd think would say that. What about the fact they were disobeying a direct order from the Department of Defense telling them not to have un-authorized material on the governments computers??

I know what you mean, and yes I do know that they broke regulations. Sure they should be held accountable. But I also don't like the RIAA or any other entity other than the one set apart to do so, to order around any military branch and tell them what to do or how to conduct business. What I don't like about the RIAA, I would have otherwise agreed with them, is that they are driven by greed, and they go after the people that give their lives to give them the opportunity to exist. It goes beyond the whole mp3 thing for me, my issue has to do with due respect.
