something picked up in the rumour mill perhaps. I am not up to date on OpenGL 2.0 specs but, would it invlove some new form of shader language or updated one? new calls and techniques to dazzle etc.

Wish Nutty would chime in here. :)

hmmm if nv4X cannot support OpenGL 2.0, then maybe it means new NV GPU time? :)

no new gpu's nv40 already supports ogl2

no new gpu's nv40 already supports ogl2 so another words there is very little change in hardware requirments from opgl 1.5 to 2.0 what a bummer

They should release some 70 drivers if release 75 comes march :o

I saw ogl2.0 specs some months ago and it really pleased me. The NV40 specs says ogl 1.5+(2.0) support so the hardware already supports it but the drivers don't except the 75 based ones.

Theres also the new FBO (FrameBuffer Objects) spec debuting in the 75 release. This is what Carmack is waiting for to get his shadow buffers working fast without having to switch contexts all the time. Its one of the most eagerly anticipated OpenGL extensions to come around.. :) Should've had it years ago, but meh...

How much is going to give a boost to Doom3 running it under NV40?

None, its for Carmack's next engine which is dumping stencil shadow volumes in exchange for hardware shadow buffers.

what?!?! Im lost... my 6800GT said its OpenGL 2.0. So are they finally working on making OpenGL that utilizes this?!
