Ahhh great info!
cant wait for a 6 quad card(s)
Maybe March 10-16 ? I dunno bud
hay muya what trade show is around that time period? im kinda thinking that they would release this at or around some sort of big show....

isnt that cebit?
isnt that cebit?
:D
Well it's not all subtantiated, as i said before, take them with a pinch of salt!!! maybe more thana pinch as this time round with NV40s, details are very very scarce to come by. So nothing can be taken as certain or half certain.
hehehe
Not hard to guess bud, think.. not happening in USA... how dare you make me think while im at work ...... i resent that .... :p
sweet! If these specs are correct that is gonna be one monster card...
:drooling:

hmmm I know I have heard that before...

Jesus... there is some beastly hardware being discussed here.
If I won the lottory id have that motherboard, 2 FX-55s (if they make S940 versions of those... i dont pay any attention to server chips), 2 NV48s, 4gigs of RAM (512Mb in each slot... id go with 1 gig in each, but the extra latency isnt worth it :p) and a gigantic power supply...
I wonder how hard it would be to make current games run slow on a system like that :D

even when they did make S940 FX-55's it will not work.. since Athlon's are build for multiprocessor systems. You'll need Opterons for that (Actually Opterons can be seen as mps Athlon64's)
and take into account that games aren't MPS aware. (MPS = Multi Processor System).. and will run off using only 1 thread. (meaning one complete CPU is unused).

I figured that... but still, talk about bragging rights. A system like that would probably be worth a small fortune ;)

yeah but it wont do any better in games. unless the game has multi cpu support.

agreed. Hopefully NV48 will have a faster clock speed as well, something around 450mhz, it'll prob. be manufactured with 110nm process (guess), so hopefully consumes about the same amount of power as NV45 / NV40.

Hey Joker, on that P4P800, are you able to get past FSB250 at 1:1? (I notice you're at 5:4)
If not, it's a limitation of the chipset I believe. That's what OCZ claims in my case (I'm on OCZ memory).

Idk, don't have ram good enough to test, nor do I have a boooster atm. plus right now, i'm at 275 fsb, the NB heatsink do gets pretty darn hot when I'm gaming or priming, but I tied a 40mm fan on it, so it's running much cooler now. if u can lend me some pc4000 in the summer, sure I'll test it out. I think my M0 can prob. go higher to around 3.5~3.6ish, if my ram can keep up, I need a booster or something. also, my cpu is getting hot with the HSF I have, maybe I should get an XP90. :D anyway, Idle anywhere from 29~36 (keep in mind it's winter in canada last time i checked), and load with 2 instance of prime, gets me to 53 max. gaming around 46~47. I have 1 80mm stealth in the back, no intake, ****ty oven case, noisetaker psu help with cooling.

Ya i have some hardware setup like yours  and my temps are around 30c  but when i run prime95 for 24hrs my CPU gets too 45c :thumbdwn: I have a Thermalright XP-120 with a Panaflo 120mm H1A FAN - 104CMF to cool my CPU  I just got a P4e 3.4GHz and im going to see if i can get to 4.2GHz on air? This summer im getting a new PC and it based on the new nForce 5 for Intel then let the over clocks begin...
Oh ya i for got say that GeForce 6900 (NV-48) is going to rock! only 6 weeks to go..

Well I got some info from a source... NV48s maybe here soon-ish.
Rumours are, 6 quad (24 pixel processing pipelines).
Extra helper shading units for each pxel processing pipeline?
More ROPs
New Video Proccessor (expected)
and..perhaps the most speculative and interesting point....new memroy interface....maybe XDR?
take it with a pinch of salt. ;)
If the performance is doubled of the one I now have (Gainward 6800 GT 420/1200) then I might consider it.

Hmm...no DDR2 ram though.
Eew I don't even want to think about registered DDR2.
The price/performance ratio would be even worse than it is now for regular DDR2.
AMD is definately doing the right thing.
That board is sweet, Tyan makes good stuff.
Alot of games do have multiple threads running.. unfortunately its usually just for disk loading or sound processing.
It would probably help, also windows can delegate other stuff to the othe cpu leaving more of the main cpu for the game.
hmmm...is the information that NV48 will be released in March real???

Theres nothing 100% real here .. thats why the forum is called the "hardware rumor mill" ;)
as for myself , hmm no i dont think so .
Yes-but some rumours can be real but don`t have to..I asked because in first post there is information that somebody has information from SOURCE...
i hope NV48 will be released before May and i wonder it will be as fast as r520 or more...

Well i'm speculating a late Q2 or early Q3 2005 release for the NV48 - if its to exist - for some reasons .
1) with the specs MUYA stated .. i think the NV48 will screw all the current SLI owners & thats not good for nVIDIA's marketing .
2) New technology usually takes more time to develop , take a look at the 6800GTs & Ultra PCI-E which are still very hard to find . if you can barly get one how do you expect to see better tech in such shorter time ?
3) If nVIDIA to release a new chip .. it should be lanuched in a close time to the competitors (say the R520) .. theres no point IMO to release it soon as March & give ATi the chance to outperform it like what happened with the NV40/R420 generation .
P.S. : notice how the replies count indicate "48" replies now .. hmm .. no more replies please or we gonna lose the NV48 forever :p
Because info on Nv's next part is scairce...it is logical to think that NV are waiting on ATI's next GPU release which is said to happen soon. I hink NV will counter their move depending on the strengths of the R5XX GPU. the specs given maybe one of the GPUs used to counter ATI's offering r maybe higher. All depends...ack speculation ;)
