Hi,

I am searching for a good DVD playback software and have read the information about the NVIDIA DVD Decoder.

Does it only work together with the Windows Media Player?

Is it just the decoder or is a player included?

Can I use the decoder with other players, e.g. Winamp, Apple Quicktime,...?

EDIT: I am using a Terratec Aureon 5.1 Fun (http://productsen.terratec.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=147&menu=106) soundcard. Is it comaptible to the NVIDIA DVD Decoder?

I believe that if you use the Nvidia DVD Decoder, it becomes the default DVD Decoder. Then, you just make sure that you use a program that supports DirectX Video Acceleration (DXVA).

I believe PowerDVD 6 also supports DXVA.

What about "InterVideo WinDVD 5.1 channel", which has been included with my MSI NX6600GT-VTD128?

The NVIDIA decoder was designed to run with Windows Media Player. I personally couldn't get it to work so I just use PowerDVD 6, which IMO blows away every other player in terms of interface and quality.

Nvidia's Decoder does have its own program, but it is designed to work with Media Centre, when install no shortcuts are made, but its there in Program Files. In XP, Nvidia and myself recommend the use of the decoder with Media Player. This is by far the easiest due to the little icon that appears in the system tray allow full configuration far beyond most other DVD players.

For me, Nvidia's quality is the best compared to other Players, PowerDVD may be a little better, but it is by far the smoothest

I am using powerdvd 6, and it is working great for me for... you know.. movies and stuff ;)

I very strongly recommend PowerDVD 6 that I am using as default DVD player. :D
