Thinking of getting either a GF 6800NU after I had to send a Galaxy 6600GT back as it was faulty.

The leadtek and BFG stand out so far, the BFG as it's slightly OC out the box and fairly cheap, and the Leadtek because of the cooling and apparently HQ DACs.

The one thing that's pushing me away from the BFG is a usenet post with someone complaining about poor quality 2D output from the analogue connection. I have a 17" TFT @1280x1024 with no DVI, so having a decent analogue video out is pretty important to me.

Does anyone have any experience with the 6800NUs running *analogue* monitors at 1280x1024 or above? Any problems or particularly good/bad cards for this?

I know the recent review of the BFG 6600GT had very good things to say about the quality of the 2D output. Maybe the post from Usenet isn't representative of the general case.

"I just tried clocking my FSB from 175 down to 166... After that it would
boot to 1280x1024@60Hz, but whenever I changed refresh rate it would get
blurry, then even going back to 60Hz it would be blurry. I then uninstalled
and reinstalled the drivers (66.93) and now it is crystal clear at a
retina-burning 60Hz, but at my preferred 85Hz it's blurry as all get out. 70
Hz is only slightly blurry, but anything more is awful. Again, this is
totally unacceptable."

I guess as I will be running at 60Hz I shouldn't have any problems, but is this a common problem with the RAMDACs/Video Bandwidth for analogue as the refresh/resolution is increased?

Also by the looks of it this persons problem seemed driver based? Anyone think the same?
