Hello everyone,

I just got myself a GeForce 6800 Ultra and boy, am I happy about it !

I tested a few games including Doom 3, Half-Life 2 and FarCry. All seem to be running quite fine. Except for RalliSport Challenge from Microsoft / Dice. I previously used to play it on a ATi Radeon 9800 PRO and it ran much smoothly then. GF6800U has slowdown even at 800x600 (AA and AF off) !Radeon could handle it at 1024x768 (AA and AF off). At 1280x960 (AA and AF off), the game becomes unplayable on GF6800U. As I probably understand, it doesn't really like Nvidia hardware (although it is one of those 'The Way Its Meant To Be Played' titles).

Anyone else tried Ralli on a GF6800 ? Thanks !

EDIT: Here's my rig

Intel Pentium 4 Northwood - 3.2 GHz (800 MHz)

The issue should be fixed with the official 66.93 drivers.

And I'm getting a score of 16287 in 3DMark 2001 SE. Isin't it kinda low for this kind of setup? My Radeon 9800 PRO used to get more than this !

ATI and Nvidia are not the same hardware, it seem to me that you probably didnt uninstall ATI driver before you remove ATI card and install Nvidia card, that probably explain why ATI driver dont like Nvidia hardware and force it to run games much slower. The best thing to do is formatting and clean install Windows XP SP2 and then you will notice that 6800 Ultra will run much faster in all games such as Half Life 2, it ran very smooth at 70fps on 1024x768 4xFSAA 8xAF on Athlon XP 1800+. :)

I did a new Windows install after I installed the GF6800U 1st time.

If the drivers didn't fix it, you can try disabling the lens flare as a work-around.

Hmmm, try download and install RivaTuner (http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=163) to see what the core and memory clock speed of your 6800 Ultra and check to make sure it has 16x1 pipeline and 6vp. Which brand is your 6800 Ultra?

Not to sound like a jerk but rallisport challenge works like a charm at 1024 on my 5900... I'm inclined to believe poor setup.

I had the issue with some of the very early 6x.xx series drivers but it was fixed a while back (at least for me). Here is an old thread where it got discussed a lot:
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=32990&highlight=rallisport+challenge

If you checkout that thread, notice I didn't think I had it initially but after trying various drivers I seemed to develop the issue and then couldn't get rid of it. The latest drivers at that time were 62.xx.

Anyway, it works fine for me now. I'm currently using the 71.50s. Which track are you currently playing and I'll double-check to make sure that one works for me.

I was just running Rallisport Challenge on my setup with 71.25's 1600x1200 4x/8x getting about 70 FPS steady.

By the way, I have a AOpen 350W PSU. Do you think that this could be one of the reasons why the card is running slow ?

It look likely...

But here something need to try first before get a new power supply.

Check your Geforce 6800 Ultra videocard to make sure that 2 power cables connected to the card.

Did you ever installed Intel 875P chipset and Intel Application Accelerator drivers? If you didnt, then install both from Intel driver page (http://support.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/CS-009242.htm).

If it wont cure the problem then it explain that you have 3 hard drives so 350W power supply is not enough, you will need 480W power supply or high to support your 3 hard drives and then your 6800 Ultra will have enough power to run games faster. :)
