I'm looking for a program for Windows (XP) that manages multiple desktops.
Not really to manage them, better to let Nvidia manage them but one which displays them in a more pleasant way - like in Linux - a (possibly transparent :) ) window with a rectangle for every desktop showing you the contents of that particular desktop; maybe a smaller window in the taskbar or something.

I believe this would be a very nice thing to have.

Hope you understand what i mean.

google for: virtual desktops for windows

Produces a whole bunch of software which does what you are asking for. Hope that is what you meant.

It's not transparent but MS do have a Virtual Desktop Manager Power Toy (link (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx)).

Thanks for the replies. I've googled for some desktop managers, i even installed some but they all look bad. None i've tried could be integrated into the taskbar :( (not counting MS power toy, i'll get to that in a minute). They all use their own desktop managers, i was wondering if there's a program that's just a front-end for nvidia's desktop manager - maybe one that integrates into the taskbar and shows a little preview of every desktop in there; it could do this anywhere else, it doesn't matter that much.

The MS power toy is kinda nice but it's a bit slow, especially when previewing (the feature is nice, i like it but i don't need it to be that big). It has very few options though :( , i can't really use it. Plus it takes up a lot of space on the taskbar :(

I'm looking for something like 24*24 pixels maybe (doens't have to be exactly that size :) ), something small and unobtrusive. Something like the ones in Gnome, XFCE, KDE ...

Some examples ...

Gnome screenshot with small 2x2 desktops window (http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/teams/marketing/en/2004/two-eight-screenshots/html/systemmonitor.png) (it's at the bottom left corner, left of "erharn@galileo")
Enlightenment with medium 2x3 desktops window (http://www.lynucs.org/index.php?screen_type=1&screen_id=13304771214143463228bfc&m=screen) (bottom left corner)
Enlightenment with big 2x3 desktops window (http://www.lynucs.org/index.php?screen_type=1&screen_id=1432103997418d01bb1e245&m=screen) (top left corner)

Gnome with big 2x3 desktops window (http://www.lynucs.org/index.php?screen_type=1&screen_id=140407135640c8970070189&m=screen) (bottom right corner, "transparent" - preferably something like this ;) )
