I use a hacked uxtheme.dll that was available right after the final release of SP2. All you have to do is boot into safe mode, rename all existing instances of uxtheme.dll in your Windows directories and copy the hacked file in its place. That way you can use any StyleXP theme without having to install any of their programs.

I did try the Longhorn transformation pack a while back and it completely hosed my GUI. Somehow I got it all back without having to format, but it was a nightmare.

I haven't installed this yet because I'm getting something from an FTP and can't stop it...but you had a lot of problems with an previous version of this? :-\ Maybe I WON'T install this...

And where did you get this hacked uxtheme.dll?

I tried the Longhorn skin thingie.

It didnt go too well on my puter, Icons could not be replaced, and that extra desktop toolbar only displayed broken image links. Skins did work
This is probably because my XP is installed on D drive.

Ill give you a nice shot of the osx skin for now. Ill add shots of some Longhorn skins too (for some reason the skins remains even thogh I uninstalled the pack)

You'll have to excuse the messy desktop ... Im working on lots of things at the moment ;)

EDIT: Added one shot of one of the many Longhorn skins, you can see a preview of yet another in the skinpanel

So to use the hacked uxtheme.dll file, do I have to have SP2 installed?

No, there is a hacked uxtheme.dll for SP1 as well. It is crucial that you download the one made for your SP though.

I tried it out last night.

Did not work that well, Icons could not be replaced, and the sidebar only displayed broken links. Skins however did work, and I now have all the Longhorn destop pictures installed.

I ended up removing it and doing a system restore.

Might play with it again tonight..........

I saw some screenies of this and it didn't look all that good at all, so I didn't bother to install it.
