Ed Piotrowski checks out the KB606SL Illuminated Keyboard from Logisys:
When Saitek released its PC Gaming Keyboard I decided to give it a try. Sadly, I had to return it because it was too long to fit on my desk. Then one day, I was browsing some hardware e-tailers and I came upon a few different illuminated keyboards from Logisys. I hadn't heard of this company before, but in the reviews I was able to find, it seemed as if their products were of good quality while being reasonably priced.

Nice review. Nice keyboard. I like my Eluminx better myself. It looks to be smaller than that one (albeit lacking the function keys on top). :)
Nicely done Ed. I didn't even know this review was in the oven. Cool! :)

It was pretty impromptu, sort of what came out of people's experiences with the Saitek board.

Yeah, the EluminX is definitely smaller. Now I don't know if it's undergone any revisions, but the first models didn't have adjustable height or a backlight switch. Also, the feet weren't very stable in that it would slide around my desk. And then there was the cost - $70+ was awfully hard to stomach for a product that I thought had several rather glaring faults. Logisys does offer a keyboard with a similar layout to the EluminX and it goes for $35 from Zipzoomfly, where I bought the one I reviewed.
I have an EluminX on my Wife's machine.
I like the keys being a little more transparent than the other illuminated keyboards. For some reason... their key's scream "cheap" to me.
That said... I actually like the Saitek keyboard last reviewed... I like "full keys"... not the flat stuff of both EluminX and Logisys. Too bad the lettering on the the Saitek isn't a little transparent too. Then it'd be perfect. IMO.
The best illuminated keyboard I ever saw, was actually in the Early 80's on a custom Commadore PET. Looked like something form Star Trek TOS. LOL

The photo here is horrible, but it does look like Saitek will be coming out with what many of us were hoping for: http://www4.tomshardware.com/game/20050108/ces_gaming-01.html

This is one of the original ones. No feet and no backlight switch. But then I have had it for as long as I can remember. I don't find it slides around on me and I generally have the feet up anyways, I like my keyboard flat.
