If it supports your card then DScaler (http://www.dscaler.com/) will probably do everything you need and more for watching TV.

It's capture/PVR capabilities are limited at the moment but are improving.

For a fairly comprehensive list of 3rd party TV-Card software have a look here (http://www.tv-cards.com/apps.php).

Currently using DScaler as well. DScaler won't crash when dragging from one monitor to another. Nice. I had to use a beta version to get it up and running on my TV Wonder PRO. DSclaer is not user friendly so if possible us ethe auto settings. Tune only when those do not work.

I got a plug in for my Remote Wonder that works, alright.

I use Beyond TV also......

I'm intrested to see what MS Media center can do too.. Isn't there a copy you can buy now without getting a new computer?

But personally, I plan to switch over to DirectTV HD with DirectTV Tivo HD eventually.. once i get a HDTV..

what's so great about dscaler if the settings aren't too friendly. better picture quality or what? i've seen it mentioned several times but nobody ever says why its the one to go with.

j0j081 - Clay's post should be all you need to see.

BTW, Tom's MoComp gives me the best results IMHO.

DScaler does eat some CPU time but it results in a great picture and certainly doesn't pu much of a dent in my A64 3000+.

I'm looking for a player that will let me watch TV on it, FM tuner would be a plus, and let me play all my xvids, divxs, what not on it while being worked off my remote. Would DScaler do that for me?

Tuner Card in sig.

No to the xvids and divxs. It's not a media player. Don't think it does radio.

The AVerMedia software that comes with it is pretty nice. It just wont play the divxs or xvids.

With sound I meant, but it looks like it was muting itself in the Soundblaster Mixer. Hmm...works great, except the sound mute bug.

I do see great improvement in the example but the souce was vhs. I am primarly 99% of the time going to be watching standard cable tv. Are such optimizations still necessary?
