I have a new nvidia geforce 6600gt. I know this card is not officially supported by Prince of Persia 2 as of yet but I was wondering if anyone knew a work around /patch to get the game to work.

After installingprince of persia 2. I click to start the game, after the initial logo screen I get a windows error that closes the game before it loads. It says "The game has ended unexpectedly. Please see readme.txt for more information"

I am running a p4 2.4 ghz windows xp sp1. 512 mb ram, nvidia geforce 6600g release 71.80

Thanks

I've got a solution. Uninstall that P.O.S., install the original Sands of Time, and play that instead. It'll work AND the game will actually be good. ;)

Seriously though, I have no idea. Sorry for crapping on your thread.

I wish I knew if sands of time was better. I heard the combat engine was better on 2 so I got it, now I cant even use it. on a side note do you think sands of time is better?,

Long as you've got yourself a good gamepad, yes. I enjoyed the game until I got stuck in one part because the combat doesn't lend itself to mouse/keyboard. I'm going to wait for my Xbox to USB adapter to come in and try again.

well ubisoft tech support said that they were working on a patch that shoudl fix this, but he didnt know when it would be public...I may get sands of time to fill the void until its ready...

the game play looks so amazing in the new one, its real lame that it cant support a new card.

You should be able to pick up Sands of time very cheap, I would definitely recommend doing so while you wait for a patch to fix the issues in Warrior Within.

Sands of Time is an over all better game but Warrior Within did have a better combat system.

Yes, Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time does work on the Geforce 6600GT.

*BUT*.

For me, I had to download the Geforce 6800 patch for it to work.

On a side note, if you are in the United States, and have a Toys r' Us near you, you might be able to pick this title up for like $6.73 after 70% off RED tag.

P.S. Eh, don't flame me here, but I noticed that all "trainers" for Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time are broken after installing the patch. Anyone know why?

Prince of persia 2 requires windows xp service pack 2. Install that and it should run.

so your saying that it will work on my specs if I just install sp2?

I installed sp2...still get the same error. any other ideas? but wierd enough, I downloaded the demo for sands of time, and it works great, even though i get a start up notice saying that it doesnt support my card...

I am using an MSI NX6600GT-VTD128 AGP and get always a warning message telling me that a hardware problem with my graphics card has been detected and that Prince of Persis Sands of Time will not run correctly

I am then asked if I wish to continue - the game then runs excellent...

Right, thats what happens for me with sands of time 1. error 2. game plays fine(this is the demo, havent bought the game yet, going to soon),

but not with warrior within..i get the error and thats the end of the story...thats the quandry

Maybe the patch I installed merely removes the error from showing up.

Perhaps I should reinstall without the patch and just let the thing run through the error screen.

Hmmm.

Not that it helps too much, but the Warrior Within works fine on my 6800GTs.

As far as which game is "better", they are very different games. At least in terms of story. When it comes down to it, the games are basically the same. You jump around rooms and fight evil zombie guys. The combat is tons better in Warrior Within :).

I didnt have to install the patch for the game to work, funny how a two year old game works but a 6 month old game doesnt, and theres no way to make it work either...

now, why would it work on 6800 and not 6600 ? that just makes it wierder

I can play the Warrior Within very well on my Leadtek A6600GT TDH. So I think it's possible. (XP with SP1, no patches)

How can you do it but I cant! even ubisoft says its not possible...how were you able to achieve the dream?

I have a bfg geforce 6600 gt (build 71.80) xp sp2

frustration is not the word

I don't know. I did nothing specific.

At first the game didn't start at all. So I held down the Control key to let the game detect my hardware. After repeating that a few times, I was able to play the game. That's all.

The game play works great on my A8N-SLI and two BFG 6800GTs. It's the movies that are painful. They are so choppy it's like trying to watch streaming video using Dial-up:)

craziness. I didnt want to get the 6800, too much money, so I got the next best. Why would one model work but the other wont. Guess I will have to wait for the patch

I just tried out Warrior Within expecting all sorts of troubles with my AGP 6600GT (MSI), but it worked great.
