EXT HD always on?

I have a couple of external Hard Drives connected to my computer, one USB and one Firewire. Usually I leave these on all the time, except for odds and ends like when I turn off the whole system or doing spring M$ cleaning.

Does this effect the HD. I am sure wear and tear eventually will be an issue, but should I worry about my EXT HDS going bad too quickly because I always leave them on?

Should be fine, just like every other hard drive ever... :p

Well everything has a life... leaving it constantly on will wear it out sooner than later... that still may be much longer than you plan on using it though.
