i got a question been switching between winamps trying to improve the overall sound quality but its stays prety much the same , the problem its that when i put the level all max sound starts to fck up (like the sound become less clear and more distortion) , i was prety pissed of that for quite some time but then searching on my hardrive a bit better i found the classic winamp. When to my surprise i fire it up the mp3 in there the sound quality its better overall in most of the cases (all max wave and volume looks normal like i can use rock equalizer settings, tryied this on tori amos so lol and it doesnt dirtort ,havent tryied on rock yet cuz now max its a bit loud lol and not alone in the house ) so my question its the folowing if any u guys understand about winamp , when i fire the normal winamp its shows as winamp.exe on task manager , when i fire up the 5.0 whatever version its shows as studio.exe could be that my sound problem its cuz i have to uninstall all winamps previous to the latest update , and that the latests one arent using the mp3 decoder they have to?
Rigt now im staying with this dont want to return to scks @ss sound on a 360 watts speakers

what u guys think?

Honestly...I have no effing idea what you're asking. I read it three times and it makes no sense.

Try puctuating it and using more than one paragraph.

lol that comment was funny alpha wolf :) , ok ill try to punctuate better.

The thing is when i use the winamp version 5.07 (dont know which i got now ), in terms of sound , it kinda gets worse if its like the wave on maximum , and the volume control aswell , the weird its that it only occurs with the most recent winamp.

I canīt even put the equalizer on rock since if i put that way the treble sounds prety weird , and it doesnt use to be like that .

But the funny part its that when i experimented using the default winamp (version 3 i think ), i dont experience any of those problems sound related , at first i thougt it was the speakers that went berzerk , cuz wher i live i got lots of eletrodischarges ,and since i dont have it protected

The other thing i noticed its when i got the winamp 3 running , on task manager it says winamp.exe , and when i got the latest one running it says studio.exe on task manager.

The thing i want to ask its that do u have to uninstall the older winamps in order the new ones can use the same decoder or they function separetely , i think its probably the one thing i havent tryied , i messed with the settings on the latest and its doesnt give me the quality i got with the default one.

or if any u guys got any sugestion

Open up the Windows Volume Control panel. Go to Options and make sure "Advanced Properties" is checked. Under the Volume slider there should be a box that says "Advanced".

Try turning the Treble and Bass down there. I find that I shut it almost completely off and let Winamp handle it. But tune as you see fit.

hmm i tryied to did that but but the bar dont slide strangely, do i need to enable anything before i mess with bass and treble? they are both on low , dont know if this could help but i have the buttons in the speakers itself, like a bass and treble buttons there could be cuz of that ?

To me it sounds like you get internal distortion, Turn down the volume in windows mixer panel, and up the volume on your speakers.

My audigy 2 distorts esaly if volume is set to high in the mixer. I don't like this as the overall volume output isnt that much to begin with on the card...

First of all, use only 1 version of Winamp. 5.08 is the latest I think.

Make sure to set Windows volume to about mid way. Start > Control Panel > Sounds

Also turn down the preamp level on the Winamp EQ to + 0 dB (or until all the bars on the spectrum analyzer are below their peak levels).

Then increase the volume by the control on your speakers/receiver. The sound should be clear and crisp.

That should be the opposite, usually you are supposed to set the source volume to the max and lower the volume at the amp end. It is a digital mixer so lowering the volume actually creates a reduction in sound quality. Hmm...that could just be a creative thing; it is possible that the creative driver sets the gain too high thus you would get a grunge effect. Any normal soundcard is not supposed to do that though.
