View Full Version : AOE3 might have some competition (Rise & Fall)

From the makers of Empire Earth and Empires: Dawn of the Modern World comes Rise & Fall: Civilizations at War. I personally loved the Empire series and hoping this one is as good. So far graphically its looking AWSOME.

Sexy, but those screens still can't compete with AOE3. Still, it's possible that some image doctoring was done with the AOE3 screens that have been revealed so far.

I dont think it looks as good as AOE 3 though. Anyway competition is all good :)

I think It looks better, I mean comapred to whats going on in the screens. The amount of troops being displayed looks nuts especially at such detail.

Camera is also alot closer, I personally love being able to do that.

IGN has some more shots, some you can even get close enough to see facial detail on the troops.

this looks dx7/8, aoe is easily dx9.0c. :: drool :: but graphics aside, this looks like it could be quite fun.

AOE3's graphics look a good bit better, BUT this game is the first RTS I've seen that actually looks like an epic battle. Time will tell if the game engine is actually capeable of dilerving that.

Guess you havent seen Battle for Middle Earth jonk? Pretty massive battles, this dosent look much better either. But it does look better. I think AO3 trumps it though.

almost looks like rome total war

I hope it doesnt try and cover so large of a timeline as Empire Earth did. It's better to concentrate on a certain period as the AOE series has. It looks good in the screenshots though.

Looks good.. not quite as impressive as AoE3, but then again, it's a different kind of game. This looks to be a mass warfare based RTS ala the Total War series...

this looks like BFME, and byt that I mean it looks like it would be based on the same engine.. and we all know about the bugs nvidia is having with it :) but maybe I'm wrong?

I'm not aware of any bugs in this game aside from the AA problems, but I thought that affected ATI cards too...

I'm all for AOE3

AOE 3 looks a lot better in my opinion... but Empire Earth really was a great game, so I'll wait and see how this one turns out :)

I don't think it looks better than AOE, either.

I dont know what effect they use for the scenery and back grounds but it looks like a painting... its actually pretty cool, just not very realistic.

Man this game keeps looking better and better every day.

Rise and Fall looks very epic. I also like ancient world combat better than revolutionary war combat. It's all going to boil down to gameplay, but either way, 2005 Q4 will be a great year for RTS.

I love how the ship system works, Theres not predefined setup. You create the ship and then put poeple on it. So you can have one of all archers or all legionares... heck I believe at E3 one had a bastilla on it.

I'm all for AOE3

QFT. I was playing those since I was a kid. :D

I mean, this game looks amazing by every aspect of it. I think it will be one of the bests of all time.

 Wow those screens look good, but there have been alot of games that looked good that still didn't compare to the gameplay of Age of empires.

My money is still on AOE3.... litterrally =)
