Why doesn't newegg ask you to bend over and run full-speed,backward, into a metal rod before placing an order...http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?description=14-102-473&DEPA=0

I wonder why it's so overpriced. Doesn't seem to be fancy, just AVAILABLE maybe.

Why act so surprised? This is nothing new. It's been going on since before the GeForce2 days.

This is Neweggs inventory system....price is a function of quanity demanded versus the supply.

It might be price gouging, but I doubt it. More than likely its just the fact that the supply is so low while the demand is relatively high. Nothing illegal here, just working the system. The only party to blame here is ATI for STILL not being able to deliver sufficient quanities of new high end parts. The only reason I got my 6800 Ultra was because the XTPE never ever showed up after months and months. At least for under $600.

To save flaming, NVIDIA (or evga marketing) still hasn't given me the WMVHD decoding I was promised on my box.

=D

Lol, $770 and after all that, it's OEM. You'd think you get like 5 full games with it. Bwahah.

Wait for the XLs to come down or get a X850XT for 498.

Speaking of price gouging...

Seriously guys I know it was ugly six months ago but allstarshop.com has good prices now. I think they have X850's for well under $600 and they have X800XTPE cards going for $514 OEM.

I wish there'd be some deals on the X800XT (the regular) similar to the recent 6800U ones, like $430 for one at NewEgg, and right now an eVGA 6800U is $439 at NewEgg, though I imagine it's only for a day or two.. Anyway doesn't really matter to me, the next video card I'm buying is in q4 2006 and there's still a looong time till then.

Look at X-Bits article, you will see the regular old AGP X800XT and of course the PE often beat these new 850's. Practically I feel the X800XL is more than enough card, just give it a light OC. The X800XT would also be a great buy if you could find one at a decent price. Personaly I'd grab an X800XL, or hunt up one of the VIVO pros that have 16pipes out the box. Yes there are some out there you do not have to flash or mod. You would have a 16 pipe card clocked at 475, which is not that far from the 500 on the XT. I'd expect it to do that. Still I say the X800XL is going to be the card to have once it is sub 350 or so.
