Although it says it's a DRM update, I've extracted the files from within the installer and it has an updated WMV9 decoder (10.0.0.3802) compiled on 28th of January 2005. Geforce 6600/6200 users please install this and see if it reduces the cpu usage for WMV HD playback. Yes, you need the latest drivers that supports PureVideo. All feedback is appreciated.

Thanks for the link.

Any idea what the differences are between this one and earlier releases. I'm still using build 3646.

I think this release is the one that's fully compatible with NVIDIA's DVD decoder and WMV 9 acceleration. I tried it out in conjunction with NVDVD and it worked. I didn't think the quality was very good, however. I still like PowerDVD 6 a lot more.

NVDVD worked fine with the older version.

That's strange because it didn't work for me. The DVD would act as if it was playing, but I would get no audio or video. Not like it matters now since I'm not using it, but still...very odd.

I was using the 6600's for these test.

Somehow I thought that the 6600's VP would provide a lot more help in video processing (i.e. do most of the work).

Did it occur that perhaps its not enabled?

Are you not using Purevideo/latest drivers? If nVidia enabled Purevideo with 67.66 should it not also be working with the latest drivers (I realise that it's not necessarily the case with different development branches)?
