Can you please give me some details about this card? Where does it stand among the TI series, and compared to some of the FX series.

It's one of the fastest GF4 cards, and can still perform admirably in lots of today's games @ 10x7, no AA or AF... it whups on all 5200's, and 5600NU, but the 5600U (esp. when OC'ed to 450/850) and the 5700NU (again, esp. when OC'ed) go pretty much toe to toe with the GF4 series, and allow for a bit of AF or AA to be used... A 5700U could be considered as a small upgrade from that card, and a 5800NU, 5900XT, 5800U, and so on could all be considered considerable upgrades.

... And a 6600GT AGP would just completely trash any GF4...

BTW, if I remember correctly the GF4 ti is a 2-quad card with a 128 bit memory interface, 2 pixel shader units, and one vertex shader unit. If it has BGA memory then I do believe that clock speeds might reach 300 core and 700 memory.

Yea pretty much the Nvidia 6600-up and ATI 9700 pro- up will kill the GF4's. I'v got a Ti 4200 thats had just about its last bloody action game. Its about shot. If anyones lookin for somethin cheap to upgrade I would go with the 4600 or 4800 cards or 5700 XT,5900.

Also the 4800 SE. Dont get it. I'v heard that SE cards are slowed down. A Ti 4600 could stomp a 4800 SE. But thats just my opinion ;)

If I remember right the TI 4800 se was the same as a TI 4400 except it was 8x agp instead of the 4x agp.It was a good card but there are a lot of things better now ,The 9500pro and up would be better and the 5700 ultra and up would be better.

This is correct. In it's day, it was the 4000ti series model that offered "the best bang for your buck". I still have have one in one of my secondary systems. And yes it can run all of todays games fairly well.

Yes, ti4800se is a ti4400 with 8x support, I'm currently using a ti4800se which can easily handle ti4600(ti4800) clock speeds, I'm sure it would go alot higher but the stock MSI heatsink/fan is quite poor and the temp is fairly high.

250/500
NV25 = Ti4200
NV28 = Ti4200 AGP8x

275/550
NV25 = Ti4400
NV28 = Ti4800 SE

300/600
NV25 = Ti4200
NV28 = Ti4800 or Ti4600 AGP8x

I have an Asus Ti4800 SE myself. Really rare, as unlike most 4800Se's which are 8x 4400's, my one is an 8x 4200.

Stock my card is 275/600. I've overclocked this easily to 325/620 (the same as a 9700 Pro).

Damn good card, I'm gonna miss it when I do upgrade.

The TI 4200 was an awesome card, just like the GT is now.

H3avyM3tal, a friend showed me this awhile back, thought you might be interested.

It has a good line up of the different ATI and Nvidia cards.

Now, some further clarification should be made about the "Ti4800" and "Ti4800SE" naming that nVidia came up with. Both are actually just Ti4600 and Ti4400 cards, respectively, with only the addition of AGP-8X support. Yes, the Ti4800SE is actually a Ti4400 and not a Ti4600 like most would assume. nVidia also deemed it necessary to name the chipset "NV28" which is what all of these cards are built on and is essentially the NV25 with AGP-8X support.

You can read more in one of my past reviews: http://nvnews.net/reviews/gainward_gf4_ti4800SE/

I just purchased a PNY Geforce4 Ti 4600 128mb AGP, well, that's what I thought it was when I bought it and that's what the sticker says on the back, but when I installed the card, it was recognized as a 4800. I installed it in my ASUS A7V board that's 4x AGP and looking at the card properties in the Nvidia settings it says it's running at 4x so I thought maybe someone flashed the bios to a 4800 but come to find out that that's unlikely. For fun I brought the card into work and installed it in my Dell Dimension 8300 with 8x AGP and when looking at the nvidia properties it said 8x AGP rather then 4x. Is the card actually a 8x 4600 or a 4800 or what? Any ideas? Anyone heard of this? I bought it off of eBay without an official PNY box and I have a few days to test it out before they won't take it back if it's bad. I can run games just fine but when I try to benchmark it with 3DMark2001SE after the 3rd test my machine reboots with the ASUS board. I've read something about problems with that stupid VIA chipset and the cards having issues downclocking to use 4x if they're 8x agp and I realize I need to upgrade but until I do, I need something that'll work well and I'd like to benchmark it but it'll restart. I'm going to try and benchmark it on the Dell at work later today on my break and see how it does. If anyone has had these problems or card or whatnot, let me know...thanks!

Read my post right above your last one. That should answer your question. :)
