I noticed these things are still $350 new. Obviously that's a ripoff when you consider an X800 Pro can be had for that price. My question is, what do you guys think is a reasonable expectation w/regard to price for a 9800XT if I were to sell one barely used OEM?

Probably less than $200 since a 6600 GT can beat that card in a lot of cases. Probably $175 I would guess.

Well crap, probably not worth even trying to sell it then. Ah well.

So how did those raptors work out man??

Agreed. It's really sad to say that, it's still a great card, but despite it's high speed and 256bit memory bus the 6600GT can not only outperform the R9800XT it can underprice it. I'm encouraging people who own a 9800Pro or XT not to upgrade to 6600GT because it's only a little better, but at these prices I also also discourage anyone from buying a R9800 series new.

In a word... yes... the R9800XT is now a ripoff. :(

Now the FX5900XT sells for $175 which is teribly overpriced and get's whipped by the R9800XT performance. So in my opinion the R9800Pro should probably be priced at $185, and R9800XT at $190, with the 6600GT holding the $200 mark.

Think $175 would be a good price. I have a 9800Pro with an Arctic Cooling Silencer that I would consider selling for offers over $150.

Thanks for the feedback guys. If I can't get at least $240 for it though I just don't think it's worth it for me to sell. Ah well, such is the market right now.

Hell there's always rage3d. Maybe some fanboy over there will give me a good price. lol

Unfortunetly the market is not in your favor. Believe me I was bummed I had to sell a like new FX5900XT in retail box for $145 even though I paid $195 after shipping. That hurt, I only got it in May 2004.

But selling at Rage3d is a bad idea because those folks will know the market value of the R9800XT. There is no way you'll get $240 for it with the R9800Pro and 6600GT selling for $200 new. Your best bet is to sell at ebay, because many of the buyers there are not educated like Rage3d members would be.

Good luck

I would but some time back I had my account deactivated due to fraud. And it's one big giant PITA to get it reactivated (seller's account). So for now I'm just going to bite it and leave the 9800XT in the 3200+ winchester. Ah well.

Yeah thats a good system still though! Unless you were going to upgrade it to a 6800gt or x800 series really no point in touching it, it still has plenty of power!

I was thinking of selling the 9800XT, putting my XTPE in there, and then trying a BFG 6800U in my system. :)

But I can't get enough money out of the 9800XT to offset the cost very well. And I can't sell the XTPE - noone will want it when I tell them that it doesn't o/c any more. They'll think it's ruined, even though it works fine at stock clock speeds.

Ah nice plan, id keep an eye out for that deal at outpost when the bfg 6800 ultra was 350$ after rebates! Other than that, you may want to try ebay, people will play rediculos ammounts for old hardware on there.

Yeah but unfortunately as I mentioned earlier my seller's account - I can't use any of my credit cards because I had them all blocked due to fraud a few years ago and getting them to reactivate me is a PITA.

So ah well... I'm stuck. Unless someone wants a real good deal on my XTPE (they could always RMA if it went south on them and it really does work fine).
