My roommate and I are totally consumed. If you want to maintain a social life I don't recommend purchasing this game.

It's one the best looking console games (and by far the best looking PS2 game) that I've ever seen/played. It has the same addicitive core gameplay that the GT series has always enjoyed, and has over 700+ cars. If you have ever enjoyed racing games, buy it. Right now. Get up, don't even reply, and go to your local game shop.

I have liked this game series from the beginning. It's a nice break from MMORPG's and FPS. They are indeed very well done.

Yeah I want to get it... I read if you have a GT3 save you can also transfer your licenses and 100,000 CR over which would be pretty sweet... I would hate to have to get the S license again.

I didn't know about the licenses, just the money. That's pretty cool. My roommate did all of the licenses over again anyway, and didn't transfer any cash. This way you get to check out some of the new cars and whatnot. I suppose a more casual fan might be inclined to just transfer the licenses over and get into it though.

Well I just read you only get the A and B licenses sadly... guess I will have to get IA and S all by myself again :(. And yeah... I thought about not transferring money when I get the game... but I don't really care... I always hated racing with a PT cruiser in 3 until I could build up cash :\.

I was just about to buy this game but I dunno. I've already beat GT2 and once you beat one, you've pretty much beat them all. I'll rent it and see how cool it is. The graphics look great. Too bad this doesn't come out for PC.

You get to play it with the wheel? Lucky bastard.

i have to pick up this game.. and figure out how to mount the DFP... might drag our small round kitchen table in front of the tv to give it a solid mounting point..

No thanks I will pick up Forza Motorsport for Xbox since it has online support and online career mode.

After playing Forza Motorsport at CES I agree that it looks just as good as GT 4, and the Live features really give it the edge. Not saying GT 4 is a bad game, because what they've accomplished with PS2's hardware is amazing all by it self. I hope they don't have any more crashing problems with Forza or more delays.

Lol ya the crashing is fixed. They had it on x-play and tested it and there were no more crashing problems. I agree GT4 looks great but no online turns me away from it since I am hooked on xbox live.

I too will be buying Forza instead, because even though my brother has a PS2 that I could play GT4 on, I still have a three month Xbox Live subscription to use over the summer.

Forza is 30fps however, as compared to a rock-solid 60 with GT4. I can barely handle racing games at 30fps, while other genres are OK, it just ruins it in racing games for me. GT4 at 60fps vs. Forza at 30 look words apart to my FPS-***** eyes.

Which sucks, because I only have an Xbox.

In case anyone is looking to buy, Outpost/Fry's has it (+DFP) for $130 after $20 MIR:

I believe the mail-in-rebate will work with purchases from any retail store, so if you already purchased it, you're not out of luck.

Is Forza Motorsport 1080i?

Mr. Hunt
02-25-05, 11:25 PM
Nope... as far as I know Forza does NOT support 1080i.

I played Gran Turismo 4 on friend's PS2 on my TV. First of all, the game is really good. Excellent handling, graphics etc. However, their so called 1080i is fake. I've played 3 games that support 720p on my XBOX like Soul Calibur II, Amped 2 and THUG2, and GT4 has waaaaay more jaggies than them. I don't have anything against the game, but this game doesn't have true 1080i. The actual clarity is waaaaaay far from what actual 1080i looks on my TV, and I should know since I have 6 all 1080i channels and 720p games on my XBOX. That's not to say the game doesn't look very good.

Other than that, that's about it. Whoever says it's a better game than others just because it's 60fps is a retard. I have the Forza demo and PGR2 and they're both 30fps, and I spent a good 5 hours playing Gran Turismo 4. It might make a difference to you if you switch between them really fast, but when you get into the game, it doesn't make one single difference. I didn't find myself playing the game and thinking "oh this is so much better now, finally 60fps!". No, I found myself enjoying the game as I normally would enjoy Project Gotham 2.

And like I said, the 1080i in this game is nothing special. In fact, if I turn on widescreen in PGR2 to make it 852x480, it looks EXACTLY the same kind of detail from when you're looking at the TV as GT4 in "1080i". If I put on Amped 2 at 1280x720p however, the quality is increased considerably like I said before. It doesn't really make a difference to me.

I played this at Best Buy last night and it was great... except I had to use a steering wheel and I can't freaking stand that... I WANT MY ANALOG STICKS!

Sticks over a steering wheel? o0

Mr. Hunt
03-02-05, 09:31 AM
Yup... been that way for forever... I just can't stand those steering wheels... they are either over sensitive or not sensitive enough and they are just too uncomfortable... sticks is all you need.

Try actually reading the message:

Stating a personal preference regarding frame rate, nothing more. Thought it was quite obvious - it's as if only a retard could misintepret it.

I'm getting Forza when it comes out...I cant wait. I'll take the analog sticks over the steering wheel any day also..most wheels i've found use pedals along with them and I have very limited use of my feet.

does gt4 really keep a constant 60 fps? I hate that flickering effect it does when too many things are on the screen at the same time.

I was actually disappointed with GT4.. maybe cause I've burned out from GT3... plus the AI is still incredibally stupid..

I can't imaigne playing any decent driving game with sticks anymore, especially after I got my Driving Force Pro.
