I have noticed there is an incredible dearth of information regarding the 6800NU SLI configuration since the launch of SLI. AFAIK, the only online review would be Firing Squad's excellent article http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/msi_nx6800/.

For those unfamiliar with the PCIE 6800NU, it's a 12 pipeline, 5 vertex processor card that is PCIE native- the nV41 chip at 325MHz. It sports 256MB of 600MHz effective DDR1 RAM, as well as the second generation video processor with WMV9 decode acceleration. I think this card is not soft-moddable, will check on that later.

I've been having a lot of fun using and benchmarking my 6600GT SLI rig, so when I saw a couple Leadtek 6800NU refurbs on newegg the other night for $239/each, I jumped. (note: Kudos neweggg. Both cards arrived full retail pack and seem to work flawlessly. My first "refurb" experience with them definitely positive)

I'll get more games up in the next week or so, but I wanted to share my initial impressions.

I played 45 minutes of Half Life 2 at 16X12, 4X8X, found it very smooth and responsive. I agree with H on this one, SLI just feels more fluid.

I did some benching, all ran smooth and without a hitch.

Please check later to see if those cards are softmoddable

I can pretty much guarantee I'll be doing that soon, but if I remember right, I believe someone here posted that only 3 quads, 5 VPs show up in the Rivatuner.

The PCIE 6800s are a whole different chip (nV41) not nV40 chips adapted to the PCIE bus like the GTs and Us.

I've never used an NV41, but I go to the Rivatuner forums regularly: The NV41 has only 12 pp and 5 vp in hardware. There's simply nothing to unlock. Also, RT's NVstrap method can only work for the primary card. Even if you could unlock more pipes (which you can't), you'd have to do it through BIOS patching.

Nice benches! Curious what the FPS/$ is for a 6800NU SLI vs a 6800 GT vs 6800U?

FS's review shows one thing that is important to the all eye candy crowd and that is the min FPS.

The single 6800U kicks out higher min FPS at 16x12x4Xx8X than the 6800NU SLI combo. It might be worth considering in the future as games get more sophisticated and CPU bound.

Doom3 benchines seems fine , but FarCry numbers @1600x1200 looks weak . i think thats due to the 6800NU's memroy bandwidth limitation .
i get the same avarage fps for instance in the Research level in a single 6800GT@U + P4:3.0Ghz .

anyway can you supply the HL2 VST scores .. @12x10 & 16x12 with AA/AF?
& how about checking the new 71.48 betas ? ;)

It's really no shock. Far Cry uses SFR. SFR doesnt benefit nearly as much as AFR. But its still no big deal.
