Thanks for answering question,
Another good feature would be ability to see all the threads you are subscribed to and onclick goto them. Its all now down to whether vBulletin has some kind of webservice for retrieval of this information rather than having to parse a webpage. Either way its a very good start.
Funny you should mention that... I was just reading in this thread (http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.aspx?catid=38&threadid=1534931&enterthread=y) over at Anandtech about how there is another extension for the SA forums that does something along those lines for last read forums. There's all the potential in the world to make some very slick and useful extensions. Now I just need to find the time. I've been sick most of this week so I've had a lot of free time but that won't last. :)

Hey, that's pretty slick! Nice work... :D
I was playing around with the placement of this menu (I like it right at the top, the first item in the right click context menu). I thought it would be neat to allow users to customize the placement to their liking and I soon found this:

Very cool extension, you can also hide a lot of the junk in the context menu that you may not use. Makes using it much easier/cleaner.
BTW, the nV News Menu shows up as "forums-menu" as that is the root <menu id value. So, that's what you'd want to select if you want to change where this option appears in the context menu.
great job with the menu ....after seeing this add-on to firefox it made me switch to firefox... man i should have changed sooner...
Cool, glad you like it. Check out my post just before this one as well.
I've been granted project space on mozdev.org so from now on you can find the latest info and/or install nV News Menu here: http://nvnewsmenu.mozdev.org/
I'd like to be able to access new posts from this extension...
I'd like to be able to access new posts from this extension...
You can, just go to "Quick Links -> New Posts"
bah, thats too far from the root... :p
Good idea for a "lite" version that would only have the most used Quick Links.
Excellent extension! I've got to get it installed on the PowerBook once I get home. Great job, Clay!
[Edit] There seems to be a weird bug with my setup ... once I've selected a link from one of the forum submenus (e.g. the Forceware Drivers forum under Graphics Card Forums), the menu goes away. No more list of subforums. All the rest of the menus are OK, at least until I select one of the forums under the menu. Running Firefox 1.0.1 with the Qute 3 theme, Sage, BugMeNot, Adblock, ForecastFox, Tabbrowser Preferences, Spellbound, and the nVNews extensions on Windows 2000. I'll try a restart and see if that fixes things.

hey, this is pretty nice!!!!
Glad you guys like it. I'm open for suggestions. I initially wanted to add an options section that would allow you to customize what threads you wanted on your list, change order, etc. I ran into a bit of a wall with that though and now that I'm not sick anymore I don't have as much free time for this. :)

Clay, time to update the extension for the recently added forums my friend :DOh yeah....
I can best respond this way:
Homer: See that, boy? Why aren't you making any business deals?
Bart: [whiney] I'll do it this afternoon! <-- That's me in this case.
:D
The extension dosent work anymore with 1.5RC3 :thumbdwn:
My crystal ball wasn't working back when I originally wrote this. ;)
It's under the GPL, anyone is free to edit/update this. It's just not exactly a top priority for me lately.
are there any plans to update this for firefox 1.5...its been disabled in the new version of firefox...
I've got a lot going on right now and don't have any immediate plans to update this extension. It is fully open source though so anyone here is more than welcome to update it.
In other words .. say bye bye to the nvnews extension :|
hay clay, i cant seem to find the source, can you post it so that i can give it a shot at getting it to work.
