View Full Version : Still running 65.73s, any point in upgrading to the 71.84 Extreme Gs?

Everything I play runs pretty well, I have no major bugs, went through half-life 2 with them no problem, and got a level 60 in WoW.
I usually have an "if it ain't broke" philosophy when it comes to drivers hence why I haven't upgraded, but will I see a signifigant difference in my minimum FPS or anything?

Just tried it out for yourself, 71.84 got 70 new features included and a major of fixes since your 65.73!

Good philosophy to have. Newer drivers will give you SLIGHTLY higher framerates and SLIGHTLY better IQ, but I doubt you'll be wow'ed by them. The only major 'Must Have' of the newer drivers is if you use Nvidia's DVD decoder and have a 6xxx card ( PureVideo, it does look better IMHO).

Not all newer drivers give better FPS and IQ... sometimes they are worse...
in this case...yes. It's worth it.
For NV3x owners it seems that the 65.73 reached a peak in rendering quality and I wouldn't trade them for anyting else.
But as a owner of a NV4x card, I feel there is stil a long road ahead in terms of quality and specific issue to be fixed.

I would go with the 71.84 myself. Actually, I already did :D

71.84 or 71.84 XG? or 71.84 WHQL :D
Best of those 3 flavours been always the XG drivers!

Well for me the 71.84's improved IQ more than I expected. Quite shocked actually. Performance is also up, so much that I see no difference between 8xAF and 16xAF so I've switched to 16xAF for everything and even higher IQ.

71.84 or 71.84 XG?
Go for the XG 71.84, a very nice driver set!
