Title says it all. Keep your eyes peeled for me. For a month, I'm gonna survive with this gigabyte agp board, but need to go SLI or at least PCI-e very soon...

My heat id is ragejg, I'm 22-0-0. :)

Bah, you stole my thread idea...not to mention my planned upgrade :D

Hmm, maybe Nvnews.net will be able to work out another exclusive deal for the 6800gt PCI-E like they did a few weeks ago with that discount code. Although, if they stay as rare as they are now, I don't see them dropping any time soon.

Well, with $300 being my dollar figure, I'm kinda lookin for a second hand 6800NU... I don't think I want one of those NU's with 600mhz memory though...

Why would you want a 6800nu on PCI-E? They're all with 256MB 600MHz memory and as far as I know, none of them can be modded with pipelines.

For $300, why don't you just get a X800XL from CompUSA for $272 with the coupon deal. It's as fast as 6800GT..

This may be a little off topic but is the AGP 6800 with 700mhz 128mb Ram better or the PCI-e 6800 with 600mhz 256mb Ram? And can the pipelines be unlocked for the PCI-e version? I currently have a Leadtek AGP 6800 and pretty happy with it. My friend plans on upgrading to one and I don't know which version is better.

Yes, the 128MB 700MHz is faster because it uses better RAM. There's not much overclocking headroom on the 600MHz 256MB that the PCI-E version. And no, the pipes on the PCI-E version cannot be unlocked, since it uses the NV41 core, where nVIDIA revised their configuration so that you can't unlock them anymore, because they want you to buy a 6800 GT.

Sigh. The nV41 6800NU is the most misunderstood chip in history. :(

1. Rage- you can buy new Leadtek 6800NUs right now at newegg for under $300..

2. The crazykevy: The 6800NU AGP version is only "better" in that it can be softmodded. The RAM difference of 100MHz is trivial, I have two 6800NUs in SLI and ran them at 700MHz memory on Doom3 and it made 3fps or less difference at the benches I ran.

MustangSVT: I ran the Coolbits OCing utility on my 6800NUs last night, the core was over 400NHz, the RAM was over 800MHz. So much for your theory.
I can also tell you this: the 6800NU needed 256MB of RAM more than it needed 700MHz RAM.

This is from personal experience with both.

Rollo, you have 6800NU's in SLI? Is that what your big SLI thread is about? I passed it over thinking it was about GT's or ultra's...

Yep. I have two EVGA 6600GTs and two Leadtek 6800NUs. Here's a link to my 6800NU thread-

http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=46886

BTW you can get refurb MSI 6800s at newegg now for $250 each.

The 6800NUs are an interesting alternative:
1. Performance is around single 6800U, sometimes a little better.
2. Have the revised PVP
3. No molex, low power consumption
4. Low heat, run at 325/600. (I ran Coolbits "optimal" the other night and it gave me over 400 for core, over 800 for RAM)
5. 256MB makes 16X12 possible on them, 6600GTs and AGP 6800NUs it's not
6. I did some minor OCing last night, up to 350/700. Doom3 12X10 4x8X went from 57>63fps, 16X12 4X8X 42>47fps.

consider the 6800Ultra Go core is running at 450, those should go hopefully pretty fast as well.

I couldn't help myself. I just couldn't. You have a 6600 GT and you are complaining. Hell half the people I know would give a few fingers for a new nice video card. Hell I am running on a FX 5200 and I get by. Some people gotta try and have it all. :(

Oh yeah? Well last month I was using a Ti200 for several weeks, and it was still pretty decent! Oh, and back in the day, I played all the way through Deus Ex on my 200mhz computer and I got an average of 5 FPS in the mission areas (lower in large firefights). Beat THAT :D
