I think this card needs to be added to the 6800 Ultra Semen thread just for fun....

lmao!!

That thing would probably weigh as much as a cinder block with the heatsink(s) on it. Not only that but better have a huge case the size of a minivan.

Does it fit into a standard case ? It seems somehow much larger than most ATX cabinets

Something tells me this isn't going to hit retail staying that size...

That thing would need some support once it has the surely huge ass heatsink and fan required for it... otherwise the one end not in the PCI-e slot would bend over time.

SLI? I dunno...

it should fit most cases with 120mm exhaust fan, I think. But they better invent some sort of vga silencer style cooling: dump the heat out side the case, otherwise I'm sure what can smell what the dual6800ultra is cooking.

I'm having trouble following the translation, but I think that IS the sli. All on one board.
It says it's based on SLI technology. I dunno if you'd be able to sli something that's allready sli'd.

k for those of you having problem with my native language, here ya go: :D

Since NV introduced SLI technology, many vendors attempted to combine 2 GPU core onto 1 piece of PCB, since it will effectively cut down costs and improve the latency between the 2 gpu. But the idea was limited to dual 6600GTs, even though dual 6800s also sports the same technology, but the complexity of circuitry design is a lot higher than dual 6600gts.

Today Hardspell.com has learnt from our special (secretive) contact: Asus is developing a single PCB, dual GPU 6800Ultra based on NV SLi technology. We also got a spy photo. As far as we know, this video card is in its internal testing phase, and will be released soon.

From what we can see, the 2 GPUs are aligned in a 45 degree angle. Length of the entire PCB looks quite reasonable, but the height has increased significantly. Memory arrangement is exactly the same as 6800Ultras, each GPU is equipped with 256mb of Gddr3, for a total of 512mb.

Due to dual GPU core, power requirements also increased as this video card will require two 6 pin VGA connector, or four 4 pin molex connector.

It's interesting to note that the GPUs used on this graphic card is still the good old NV45s, with HSI bridge chip integrated on each core. But NV only officially announced the support for SLI after native PCI-E 6800, which is NV48. But since NV45 also sports SLI technology, and it is earlier than NV48, does that point to the creator of SLI is actually Asus?

as far as I know, this is the correct translation for everything. But I must admit that the last paragraph is full of imaginary horsesh!t. Hope this helps.
