Crazy goober, Why your at it. I want 6800 Ultra SLI benches. :) I believe your crazy enough. ;p

Nice work !
then why i'm getting only 62.5fps @1600x1200,4xAA,8xAF in Doom3  (71.84) . are your GT's overclocked ?

Can u unlock any pipes on the NU
using SLI?

Just wondering. I was thinking
about using 2 regular 6800's in my Intel SLI rig.
Well, when nvidia releases the board. ;)

I was hoping we would have some more info on the intel nForce5 boards already... guess not.

Tell me about it.
I'm ready to build if they ever release it.
If not I guess I'll go AMD.
But I really want a SLI Intel rig. :afro2:
Maybe there will be a dual core Intel SLI board. :drooling:

6800NU PCIE use the Nv41 core. Which is inherantly a 12 pipeline card. I have seen the 6800NU usually bein just a bit above a 6800GT in performance. Near a 6800 Ultra. Just like a 6600GT SLI setup is a bit below or a bit above a 6800GT dependent on resolution. But the difference isnt as dramatic as I would have thought.

The 6800GT SLI setup however storms past them both.. cant get enough of 10000+ Fillrate though.

How come your not considering AMD? It's not like Athlon 64's are slow and they are a more mature SLI platform right now.

I might just go AMD this time around.
I was just kinda waiting to see what the
the next Gen brings.

Plus I was waiting on a few more 64 SLI boards
to hit the market. ;)

I want the biggest bang for the buck as always. :D
I'm going to have to buy a part here and there.
My wife will never go for 1000+ bucks at once.

I don't OC anything, or even have my motherboard set on anything but "automatic" in the bios.

Don't know why you get 5fps less than me, I beat http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2284&p=13 (AT) by 2fps as well. I'm using the 71.80 drivers.

Are you typing "Timedemo Demo1 1" at the console so it precaches?

eh, i dont really understand the point of designing a new chipset for a processor that doesnt perform as well (at stock speeds), especially in gaming conditions. probably just for those intel enthusiasts out there :p

also, the overclocking on the pentiums are insane. if someone were to OC the piss out of one and run it SLI, that would give some amazing numbers.

I wish they woulda made an SLI board designed around the Intel Mobile chip.. those things kick ass

It would run cooler thats for sure. My only complaint about SLI is the heat generation. There is no doubt that my computer setup generates a substancial amount of heat.

After running this 478 Prescott heat is something
I've got use to.

Running dual NV5 would be a must for SLI.

Now but i run the demo more than once . whats your image quality setting ? i'm using HQ .

There is your difference- I'm set to quality (default) in the nVidia control panel.

Fantastic work. Thanks for the info man. SLI benefits are plain to be seen. I definatly really really want to go SLI...soon :)

It is strange that the 6800NU is well similar to that of the single GT?

You're welcome!

There were a couple benches where the 6800NU showed some advantage, but you're right, for the most part they were similar.

I did a minor OC (325/600 > 350/700) on the 6800NUs and ran the Doom3 benches and got a 10% increase. My "optimal" speeds on the NUs is supposedly something like 413/807, I think if I would have put a larger OC on the NUs they would have put in a better showing.

Any way to get some min fps of the games u benched too? I (as probably many others) would be interested in those too. :)

Ouch. I'd have to re-do them all with FRAPs- beaucoup work! :(

Perhaps in the near future. :)

The 6800NU being close a 6800GT in many cases is not really surprising. It does have nice bandwith advantage over a 6600GT but it still doesnt have a 6600GTs fillrate. So really I'm sorta impressed it does as well as it does. Its nicer for 1600x1200 with 4xAA than a 6600GT SLI setup. Thats for sure. Most other resolutions probably will feel similar to a 6600GT SLI or 6800GT setup though.

AFAIK the fillrate of the 6600GT and 6800NU is about identical Chris?

Yup. But fillrate is where SLI makes the biggest difference. SLI doesnt really effectively double bandwith. So if you're bandwith limited. They will be nearly identical. The advantage is bandwith + extra memory comes in handy @ 1600x1200 with 4xAA ;)
