Im planning to get two of them for sli. agp and pcie version have same cooling, all i need to know is if these cards are very noisy! are they as loud as the nv stock cards?

i need silent cards, so i guess the leadteks are the silent ones?

If you want silent cards, avoid these. They are even louder than Nvidia Stock Cooling.

Nearly impossible. A friend of mine owns such card and the cooler runs @ 4.5 Sone. You die when you the sound of the card...

It is!

I've got the same problem, everything in my PC is running pretty quiet but the asus stands out!

Thinking of replacing the fan ...

lol you guys are ****ing lame. I got the Asus 6800GE @ Ultra, and by using the Asus smart doctor i can control my fan. At default speed i can only just hear the fan. If i enable the auto feature the card turn down the fan so i cant hear it. I dont what the **** you guys are smoking but please stop sucking it.

WHOA, the hostility. I think some of us just want quiet pc's. Right now my 6800 Ultra sounds like the Dustbuster 2.0 FlowFX... Personally I'm even considering an X850 just to reduce the sound because it DOES matter to some people. Noise is relative, so I think the thread starter should specify what he thinks is "loud".

I had some NV 6800GTs here with the stock fan, and thyere pretty loud for me. Too loud for 24/7 usage. Think i will go with the Leadtek cards, they seem to have the lowest noise of all 6800.

So, are these Asus cards quieter than the NV Stock cards, or even louder?

Why not just slap a NV5 on what ever u buy?
U cannot hear the NV5 running.

Loud is a relative word I have learned. Itīs possible that the cooler have an unbalancd fan, because my v9999 GT is almost silent. In comparisson to my old 5900Ultra itīs dead silent ;) .

Edit: If your system is stable with SmartDoctor youīre lycky because my system get random lockups and corrupted images with it installed. Only solution is to completely remove it.

I have an ASUS v9999 Ultra Deluxe (AGP) card. If I am not mistaken, the GT has the same fan as the Ultra.

I think the v9999 Ultra Deluxe runs VERY loudly. I'm waiting for NV5 silencer to arrive, which I ordered from sidewindercomputers.com. I hope putting that on the card will at least reduce the noice to some extent.

All i need to know is the noise compared to the 6800GT NV Stock cooler.
