Hello all,
I have successfully compiled NVIDIA_GLX-1.0-3123 & NVIDIA_kernel modules.
I'm positive that its loading the right libGLcore.so, and libGL.so. Changed XF86Config to Driver "Nvidia", Load "glx"... etc.
(removed old GL libraries b4 hand..)
When X starts it shows the white Nvidia screen, and all seems to be fine.
However, when running GL apps, or just switching workspaces, etc, X will crash. If I start X and walk away, without loading anything, and come back in a few minutes it will crash as well. So I don't think its a problem with a certain application, just the driver itself. --- OR maybe because it's a PCI card, as similar sytems I've seen run flawlessly w/ a Gforce2 MX AGP.
Specs:
dual XEON 2.2 ghz
Tyan Thunder I7500
PCI Gforce 2 MX
Slackware 8.1 - Xfree86 4.2 vrel-6600
Any help will be GREATLY appreciated!

How's the airflow around the card? I assume that the GF2MX has a fan, right? Does it work any better if you open up your case (or is that even possible with your setup)? What's the ambient case temp with the case closed?
I'm thinking it might be heat -- those were pretty close to the symptoms I was seeing when my GF4 4200's heatsink coating effectively burned, and stopped transmitting heat...

Thanks for the suggestion - but the air flow is good, and the fan is operational on the card. Also, i ordered 4 of these machines for my department, and all of them have the same symtoms. Has anyone had similar experiences w/ PCI?
My first move would be to set NvAGP to 0. If that doesn't help, I'd run X with the following
startx -- -logverbose 9
The output should then be written to the log. On RedHat, this log is generally found in /var/log/XFree86.0.log, if my memory serves me. I don't know about slackware, however.

Still no luck :( -- i can replicate the crash by switching workspaces.
