Recently purchased a LG GCC-4521B combo with the latest 1.05 firmware.

2 problems with the drive(?):

When playing VCD's in MPC 6.4.8.3, the playback tends to show 'slight' glitches in the nature of purple'ish spots like when using a drive with bad error correction.
They play perfectly in PowerDVD 6.0.

The second problem is when playing DVD's in PowerDVD, the playback has heavy stuttering and glitches (unwatchable basically).
They play perfectly in MPC 6.4.8.3 and BSPlayer.

VCD - slight glitches in MPC, perfect in PowerDVD
DVD - heavy stuttering in PowerDVD, perfect in MPC and BSPlayer

Any clues what might be going on?

Can't be a problem with the drive since PowerDVD plays VCD's perfectly and MPC plays DVD's perfectly.

EDIT - could it have anything to do with my old&slow 5200rpm 20gb?

I dont have any answers for you, but would just like to add, that I have a divx film that stutters badly in MPC, but plays fine in PowerDVD6 and WMP! My hard drive is a 7200rpm, so Im thinking it maybe just a program problem, like your problems may also be program related. Do videocard drivers have anything to do with how these programs work?

I would also like to add that I didn't install any dvd decoders specifically, assuming powerdvd6 comes with it's own (or does it?).

I don't have wmp10 as well, still using using version 8 since I don't like it at all.
Could this be a problem?
Getting wmp10 right now.
