Hey, Where'd that come from. Coolness :)
Good stuff!!! :D
SLI rawks :)
Nice overclocking results !!
Nice review. Obviously, temperature is not an issue on the tighter spacing of the MSI SLI mobo with the 6600GT.
I read on another review of the same card, that the cooler on the board is only copper COLORED, not copper. I believe they said it was an Aluminum either plated, or painted copper.?

Hmm, I'll have to look into that. Thanks for the heads up.
And Brian, I did get your PM and those issues have been fixed. :)
Nicely done as usual Ed. :) Very thorough and I liked the inclusion of NvSLI and nHancer.

Cool. I got yo back. :afro:
The review about the heatsinks not being copper was from HardOCP, so no idea if it is true or not.
"At first glance, one would think the heatsink unit is made of copper. This is not the case as the heatsink is all aluminum and is simply painted to give it a copper effect. The heatsink does come in direct contact with the RAM providing cooling for the modules."
Creative (MSI's) 5900XT featured a very similar cooler, and that in fact turned out to be aluminum... for what it's worth...

We're working on contacting MSI about this, and as soon as we hear, the review will be updated. :)
Not that I don't trust [H] but I would rather hear this straight from the horse's mouth.
I actually just purchased 2 of these cards ( one for me, one for the wife ) , and screaped the copper coloring right off of it on a bit of the heatsink, it looks like aluminum underneath.

Sweet. How much more power does this have over a agp 6800 setup?

If you're gaming at 1280x1024 or lower, the 6600 GT SLI setup is probably about the best you can do. If you want to go 1600x1200, stick to the 68xx line. 128 MB/128-bit does hurt at times, even with the second card. Overall, I hardly miss my 6800 GT.
I just saw this (http://www.tcmagazine.info/articles.php?action=show&showarticle=121) Does 6600gt sli realy kicks ass on 6800nu 256 sli? I mean look @ 1600x1200 4xAA/8x af

In shader intensive apps that don't require huge amounts of video memory, the 6600 GT will always win because of its much high clock speeds (500/1000 vs 300/700).
Ahh ok tnx. ;) i get it, 500 x 8p is faster than 300 x 12

It's pretty obvious that it's in fact aluminum. How can you not know by touching it and the card generally being cheaper than all the other 6600GT's? :POKE:
Not that it matter, it's a very nice card. The review was a little weak though.

That's news to me, didn't know you could directly compare the two based on clock speed given they're different cores. And that doesn't explain why 1600x1200 is actually faster than 1280x1024. :thumbdwn:
Hmm, you made a entrance to the forums using an old thread with negative non-productive comments. Please use some tact or move on.

You have probably seen my thread about making the jump into PCIE, and i am loking at getting a 6600GT and maybe SLI. but since i play my games at 1280x1024 with no aa or af, would sli be the only way to not miss my 6800gt?
