I have a little problem with my new sapphire 9700 card. I downloaded those new via 4.40 drivers and then i turned the 8x on and now it doesnt seem to want to run. Any time i run a graphics program like 3dmark or UT2003 i just get black screen and i have to reboot. Anyone got any solutions?

go back to an older via agp driver.

You might want to try the 4.40 agp driver that was recently leaked, I believe the agp driver in the 4.40 4 in 1s was ver. 4.37 but I'm prob. wrong.

Since VIA's board is not 100% within AGP 8x spec, there are problems running in 8X ATi has corrected the problem in newer revisions of the 9700 and most board manufactureres have released updated BIOS that correct the issue as well

Both VIA and SiS are guilty here and ATi cards are not the only ones having problems (SiS cards do as well)

shame on SiS and Via for releasing AGP 8x boards before the whitepaper was released by intel.

Well, I just installed the drivers that came with the board and now everything seems to work okay. I also downloaded the rade3d tweak and i just enabled my board to 8x using some tool in there, smartgar or something. Runs good now. 8x though only seems to be benifitial though when im running really high resolution, other than that not much apparant difference. Maybe it will work better with newer games.

Thanks all
